Michael Strahan Becomes a Grandpa as Daughter Welcomes Her First Child

The TV personality is now enjoying a sweet new job. Michael Strahan’s family recently welcomed a new member. He broke the momentous news on his most recent broadcast live.

The adored anchor of “Good Morning America” and former NFL player has started a brand-new, wonderful chapter in his life: he is now a grandfather! On September 22, 2024, Michael, 51, announced on the Fox NFL Sunday broadcast that Tanita Strahan, his oldest daughter, had given birth to a baby boy called Onyx.

Michael’s first child, Tanita, is an illustrator living in Los Angeles and is shared with his former spouse, Wanda Hutchins. Although Onyx’s exact features are still unknown, the news welcomes a sweet new member to the Strahan family.

Tanita, who is currently 32, was born in Germany and lived much of her early years in Houston, Texas, before her parents’ divorce sent her back home. After graduating from high school, she relocated to the United States to follow her dream of being an artist. She enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles to study design and visual communication.

Along with his second wife, Jean Muggli, Michael is also the proud father of three other children: his 29-year-old son Michael Strahan Jr. and his 19-year-old twin daughters, Isabella and Sophia. The popular TV personality frequently expresses his affection for his kids. The former professional football player stated in an exclusive interview from 2016 that, “To me, it’s all about family, now more than anything.”

The NFL legend honored Tanita’s 31st birthday in November 2022 with a charming Instagram post. “Happy birthday to @tanitaa.st, my firstborn 🎉🎊🍾. Please join me in wishing her the most wonderful day. Although Tanita has often kept her personal affairs quiet, her latest achievement has garnered notice. To date, neither she nor Michael have disclosed any information regarding the father of her child. Tanita’s social media usage, however, suggests that she and her partner, Calenta Mincey, have a long-term connection.

She shared a photo of herself with Calenta and other family members later that year in December 2017, writing the simple remark, “Family ❤️.”

The most recent photos of Tanita and Calenta together were from May 2022, when they were shown cuddling up close to one another. In one picture, Tanita was painting as Calenta was flipping through a portfolio or magazine.

The pair previously posted joyful mirror selfies in July 2020. These images were a part of a bigger set that included Tanita taken alone and landscapes.

Though not much is known about Caleb, his social media presence indicates that he is an artist who frequently shares his love of drawing and painting.

Calenta has received praise from friends and family for her acrylic paintings and illustrations.
