“TV Judge Greg Mathis Celebrates Son’s Wedding on Scenic Beach — Details on the Rings, Reception, and Family Moments”

After years together, Greg Mathis Jr. and Elliott Cooper married in an intimate ceremony with only family present, making their special day a true “dream come true.”

Greg Mathis Jr. and Elliott Cooper’s wedding was a heartfelt celebration on the sunlit shores of Cabo San Lucas.

On October 21, Greg Mathis Jr. and Elliott Cooper exchanged vows at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria in Cabo San Lucas, with only 15 close family members by their side.

The 5-star Waldorf Astoria became a sanctuary of love for Greg Mathis Jr., 35, and Elliott Cooper, 49, as they celebrated their wedding in custom high-waisted suits.

Greg Mathis Jr. wore a classic navy blue suit, while Elliott chose a striking purple one to honor his late mother, who passed away from lupus during his college years.

The grooms’ style was timeless, just as Greg Jr. had envisioned. Reflecting on their wedding outfits, Greg Jr. shared, “We both wanted a look that was classic, but also with some flair and our own personal style and touch.”

Greg Mathis Jr. and Elliott Cooper first met on Valentine’s Day in 2016 through mutual friends.

During the vow exchange, Broadway star Kyle Freeman performed Luther Vandross’ “Here and Now,” beautifully capturing the joy and significance of their union.

Once the reception started, the newlyweds changed into their second outfits, ready to celebrate with their family.

Event planner Andrew Roby designed the beach-themed decor, transforming the sandy shores into an elegant affair for the celebration.

The couple chose dark purple, navy, and black with bright yellow accents, creating a striking yet serene atmosphere for their wedding.

The celebration doesn’t end there; the newlyweds plan to host a larger ceremony in Los Angeles next year. They described their wedding in Mexico as an opportunity to create a “family trip” atmosphere and make lasting memories with their loved ones.

After publicly coming out about their relationship on Greg Jr.’s family reality show, “Mathis Family Matters,” in 2022, the couple has consistently prioritized family at the heart of their bond.

Elliott shared, “Family is one thing that really solidified our relationship in the beginning. Family is super important to me and us because we know that they love us and we love them.”

Cabo San Lucas provided the perfect backdrop for their ceremony, as it holds special significance for the couple—it was the destination of their first trip together when they began dating.

Since then, Cabo San Lucas has become one of their favorite vacation spots. Elliott explains, “We love the beach, and the ambiance has such a natural beauty.”

Before the wedding, a welcome dinner at Nobu Los Cabos set the tone for the festivities to come. The ceremony was deeply personal, featuring both grooms’ fathers officiating together.

Greg Jr. came up with the idea to have both fathers officiate to make the moment even more meaningful. Reflecting on the day, he described it as special and “a dream come true.”

Before exchanging vows, Greg Jr. and Elliott had already shared eight years together.

They celebrated their anniversary this past February, the same month they first met. Greg Jr. commemorated the milestone on Instagram, sharing photos of the couple along with a heartfelt caption.

“Yesterday, we celebrated our 8 Year Anniversary alongside Valentine’s Day! ❤️ It was great to sit down with Pride.com to talk about our recent engagement, careers, and life on the West Coast,” he wrote, capturing the joy of their journey together.

The couple announced their engagement in July via Instagram, celebrating the moment with several photos on the platform. Speaking to a publication, Greg Jr. shared, “To be completely honest, for many years, we weren’t sure if we wanted to formally get married.”

Greg Jr. revealed that while he and Elliott knew they loved each other and wanted to be lifelong partners, they found “marriage seemed a bit more difficult to visualize.” Elliott noted that there weren’t “many married couples” like themselves to look up to. However, they viewed their wedding as a “must-have” because representation is important in the LGBTIQ+ community. The couple expressed that getting married is about more than just the institution; it’s a special way to honor the life they’ve built together.

The pair expressed their awareness of the current times and what their relationship “represents to others.” They realized that their relationship and marriage can serve as a guide for both young and older Queer individuals, reminding them that “there is nothing wrong with them and that they have a place in this world.”

On September 29, 2023, Elliott proposed to Greg Jr. at the French-themed restaurant Republique, which Greg Jr. described as their “little piece of Paris in Los Angeles.” The restaurant brought back memories of their past anniversary trips to Paris, the first place where they felt safe enough to hold hands.

Their friends and family were invited under the pretense of supporting the couple at the 2023 Los Angeles Walk to End Lupus, which they were hosting.

After the first course of dinner, Elliott proposed, and Greg Jr. recalled how their loved ones were so excited that they “couldn’t even finish the rest of our meal.” Despite the excitement, what the judge’s son is most looking forward to is their honeymoon.

Greg Jr. expressed his hope to convince Elliott to visit Bora Bora for their honeymoon. The reality television star also looks forward to starting their family and continuing to experience life together. He shared, “We are already a solid unit, but I’m excited for all of the added fun that the ‘Mathis-Coopers’ are going to have.”
