“From Seclusion to Splendor: Parents Keep Their Daughter Hidden, and Now She’s a Gorgeous 2-Year-Old.”
|Parents always strive to protect their children, and in this case, Celine Casey took special measures for her daughter, Vienna Brookshaw, who was born in April 2021 in the UK. Upon seeing Vienna for the first time, Celine noticed a birthmark on her forehead, located between her eyebrows. This birthmark, known as congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN), was not a health concern, but Celine worried it might affect Vienna emotionally as she grew up, as CMN is a condition involving harmless pigment cells that could increase in size as she aged.
Vienna’s condition is rare, and it was uncertain how much her birthmark would grow as she aged. Concerned about potential challenges for her daughter, Celine Casey immediately consulted doctors about possible removal options, fearing that Vienna might resent her parents in the future if they didn’t address it. Despite her worries, Celine expressed her unconditional love for Vienna, stating that they enjoy watching her grow and look forward to the day she can share her own thoughts, affirming that they would love her regardless of the birthmark’s presence.
Celine Casey sought to remove Vienna’s birthmark because, as a baby, people would stare at her, and she noticed that others treated her differently than other children. This motivated her even more to pursue the surgery. However, the NHS (National Health Service) denied the request, stating that the procedure was not essential for Vienna’s physical health and deemed it cosmetic. In response, Casey launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the surgery, and within 24 hours, she received $52,000 in donations. Unfortunately, due to increased hospital costs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, they still needed an additional $27,000 for the surgery.
Celine Casey sought assistance on GoFundMe again to cover the additional costs for Vienna’s surgery to remove her birthmark. She expressed her concerns, stating, “Everyone has things they feel unsure about in their body. The doctor said it wouldn’t affect Vienna’s mental health right now, but we didn’t see it that way. She’s starting school at three, and little kids are clever; they notice things like that.” Now, at two years old, Vienna has had her birthmark completely removed, leaving only a small scar on her forehead. Celine regularly updates supporters on Vienna’s healing journey and frequently praises her daughter, calling her “gorgeous.”
After the removal of the birthmark, Vienna’s parents took her to London for a check-up with the surgeon to assess the healing of the small scar on her forehead. They wanted to ensure that she wouldn’t require any additional surgeries or treatments after the three she had already undergone. Fortunately, Vienna is a healthy two-year-old and does not need any further medical care!
Sending lots of good wishes to little Vienna, and may she stay healthy always! Feel free to share her story with others!
