Dolly Parton Postpones More Appearances Citing “Health Challenges”
|Dolly Parton has officially postponed her upcoming Las Vegas shows, citing ongoing health issues that require medical attention and recovery time.
Dolly Parton’s Postponement of Las Vegas Shows
On Sunday, Dolly Parton, 79, announced that she will not be performing her scheduled concerts at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas this December. The shows, originally planned for December 4 through December 13, 2025, have been rescheduled to September 2026.
“I want the fans to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Parton wrote in a public statement.
The legendary singer explained that she has been experiencing health challenges and was advised by her doctors to undergo “a few procedures.” With her signature sense of humor, Dolly joked that it was time for her “100,000 mile check-up,” clarifying that this wasn’t her “usual trip to see [her] plastic surgeon.”
Dolly Parton Prioritizing Recovery
Parton emphasized that the decision was made out of respect for her fans. She explained that without the proper time to rehearse and prepare, she could not give her audience the quality performance they expect.
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she said.
While the postponement is disappointing for many, Dolly reassured fans that this is only temporary. “Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she wrote. “But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
A Difficult Year for Dolly Parton
The health news comes during an already challenging year for the music icon. In March 2025, Dolly’s husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, passed away at the age of 82. Following his death, Dolly spoke openly about the grief she experienced.
“I had no idea that so many people were in love with our love, with our love story,” she told WVLT’s Kyle Grainger. “It is a heartbreaker, no doubt. I’ll always deal with waves coming in and out, but at least I’ve had my work. Carl would expect that.”
Missed Dollywood Appearance Earlier in September
Just two weeks before the Las Vegas announcement, Dolly also missed a scheduled appearance at her Gatlinburg theme park, Dollywood, on September 17. She was supposed to unveil a new attraction, Night Flight Expedition. Instead, attendees were shown a video message explaining her absence.
In the clip, Dolly revealed that she had been dealing with a kidney stone that caused an infection, preventing her from traveling. “The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better,’” she explained.
