Barbra Streisand says she ‘can’t live in this country’ if Donald Trump wins 2024 presidential election

Following her icy serenade of former President Donald Trump in the song “Don’t Lie to Me,” Barbra Streisand attacks the “tyrant” once more, threatening to leave the country if the Republican nominee for 2024 is re-elected.

In an interview with Stephen Colbert, the musician and actor called the four-time indicted Trump “so stupid” and “ill-informed,” adding, “I can’t live in this country if he becomes president.”

However, she has threatened people before, and she is not the first famous person to have broken their word to leave for Canada, Europe, or even Jupiter after Trump’s victory in 2016.

When Barbra Streisand, the 81-year-old gem, exclaimed, “Yes, Mr. Trump, let’s make America great again,” she wasn’t aiming to be a Funny Girl. First things first: America was fantastic even before you were elected.

The seasoned Democratic fundraiser and supporter isn’t afraid to voice her disapproval of the outgoing president, referring to him as “the Liar in Chief, the Groper in Chief.”

The Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner, or EGOT, released her 36th album, “Walls,” in 2018. The album was inspired by the reality show star who went on to become the US president.

“I wanted to talk about the things that were making me feel so sad, heartbroken,” she remarked in an interview with Associated Press on the song. “I just can’t stand what’s going on,” Streisand says. I believe we are going to struggle over his attack on our democracy, our institutions, and our founders. We are engaged in a struggle for America’s soul.

A musical ode against Trump’s despotism, the Grammy-nominated album has hits like “Don’t Lie to Me,” which Streisand says was inspired by news that left her feeling “sick, listening to lies, listening to things that are such craziness.”

“I don’t think the country should be lied to, and I can’t stand to be lied to.” Then she jests, And I simply couldn’t understand how he was able to tell all these lies completely guilt-free (it’s obvious he’s not Jewish).

In her memoir “My Name is Barbra,” published in 2023, Streisand discusses the conflict between politicians and artists and explains why she feels compelled to be politically involved.

“Why do so many people find it offensive when artists voice their opinions?” Babs queries. According to Streisand, artists can act as “a country’s conscience.” Their creations serve as a window into the times, and occasionally they push us to notice things that others would rather keep hidden. By speaking up when others won’t, they can offer the voiceless a voice.

“Art is the enemy of tyrants and dictators,” the speaker continues.

Unfortunately, her strong voice did not influence the electorate.

‘Planet’s gone bonkers’

The Prince of Tides actor said, “He has no facts,” to the Australian 60 Minutes crew prior to the 2016 elections. I’m not sure; it seems unbelievable. If you’ll let me, I’m coming to either Canada or your country, Australia.

Nevertheless, Streisand wasn’t the only A-list star to declare they would leave the country if Trump were to win the presidency.

According to The Wrap, comedian George Lopez declared he will return to Mexico in a joke: “We’ll all go back if [Trump] wins; he won’t have to worry about immigration.”

Day after Trump’s triumph over Democrat Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Handler, who had declared her intention to resign, changed her mind. “My staff reminded me yesterday that leaving the country equates to quitting; platforms and voices like mine are needed more than ever.”

Other celebs, meanwhile, came up with more inventive escape strategies.

“I would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet, because clearly this planet’s gone bonkers,” comedian and talk show host Jon Stewart remarked.

Additionally, Cher tweeted, “I’m moving to Jupiter if he gets elected.”

Post Trump

The star of 1983’s Yentl told People of President Joe Biden, “the country is certainly headed in the right direction,” after spending “four years in a dark hole.” The interview from 2021 goes on, “I adore Biden. I adore his kindness, truthfulness, morality, and passion for the real world over made-up stories.

We have been pulled down into Trump’s swamp’s muck since 2016. In a piece for Variety, she claims, “With his ridiculous boasts and astounding ignorance, he has destroyed our standing in the world.”

‘Restore nobility of truth’

Now that Trump is the apparent Republican front-runner, Streisand is speaking out about her worries about the impending elections.

The late singer and actor said to host Stephen Colbert during an appearance on The Late Show that she would not put up with being a citizen of a nation led by a guy she had previously referred to as “so stupid” and “so ill-informed.”

“If he becomes president, I can’t live in this country,” Streisand declared, adding that if she had to move, it would probably be to England since “I like England.”

“Trump is a man who, in situations where he is at fault, would sooner place the blame elsewhere than accept accountability for his own conduct. She argues, “He has dodged accountability once more because of his Republican supporters, so even being impeached hasn’t humbled him.

“We require a new America devoid of retaliation, pollution, profanity, and insults. We must reinstate the dignity of the truth.only then will America once more be a great country.
