Bruce Willis’ mom fears actor won’t recognize her due to his dementia
|Marlene Willis has shared insights into her interactions with her son following his diagnosis.
In light of Bruce Willis’ health condition, his mother Marlene Willis has observed how the illness has affected his life and his interactions with the world around him.
According to Wilfried Gliem, Willis’ mother’s cousin, in an interview with BILD, “She is uncertain if her son still recognizes her.”
Gliem further explained, “His behavior has become very sluggish, with a hint of aggression, making it difficult to engage in regular conversations with him.”
“This behavior is typical given his clinical condition,” Gliem added.
Additionally, Gliem mentioned that Marlene is deeply concerned for her granddaughters but remains hopeful that the family can navigate through this challenging period together.
Last Thursday, it was announced through a statement that Bruce Willis’ health had deteriorated over the past year, leading to his retirement from acting due to aphasia.
After undergoing further tests, the actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
His current wife Emma Heming, ex-wife Demi Moore, and their five daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, have detailed the hardships he is facing at the age of 67.
The family statement regarding Bruce’s health progression since the announcement of his aphasia diagnosis in 2022 was shared as follows:
“As Bruce’s condition has advanced, we now have a more precise diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (FTD),” the statement conveyed.
“Regrettably, challenges in communication are among the symptoms he is encountering due to this illness. While this reality is deeply distressing, having a definitive diagnosis brings a sense of relief.
“FTD is a merciless disease that often goes unrecognized, capable of affecting anyone.”
