Cameron Mathison and Vanessa Mathison release joint statement, confirming fan speculation

Officially, Cameron and Vanessa Mathison have parted ways.

The General Hospital actor and his ex-wife announced their separation on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a joint statement that said they will be splitting after 22 years of marriage.

The former couple stated, “After 22 years of marriage, we have made the difficult decision to part ways.” We have a great deal of respect, kindness, and love for one another as we start this new chapter. We are deeply appreciative of the fantastic years we had together.

“Our children have been and will always be our first priority, and we will always be devoted to and in love with them.”

Cameron and Vanessa, who have a son named Lucas, 21, and a daughter named Leila, 18, shared that they “remain friends” and hope for the best for one another.

The statement continued, “We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”

When they were both working as models in New York City in 1998, the former couple first got together. They dated for a number of years before getting hitched in July of 2002.

Cameron discussed his 20th wedding anniversary with ET in 2022.

This summer marks our 20th anniversary of marriage, and I can assure you that it hasn’t always been easy. The first five years were difficult for us. Beyond my wildest expectations, marrying Vanessa has been the finest thing I could have ever imagined after getting through those difficult times, getting to call her my best friend, and enjoying every second of our time together.

It was reported by fans that Cameron and Vanessa had broken up weeks prior.
