Hayden Panettiere, 35, Makes Fans Worry for Having ‘Slurred Speech’ and Eyes That ‘Can Barely Stay Open’ in New Interview — Videos
|Hayden Panettiere’s latest interview, where she discussed the loss of her brother, has raised alarm among fans. Many were troubled by her appearance and speech, instead of what she had to say during the conversation.
Regarding the passing of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, 35-year-old Hayden Panettiere spoke candidly with People. After his dying in 2023, this was her first interview in public. Fans and internet users expressed concerns about her well-being, focusing more on her mood than on her intention to share her loss and healing journey.
The actress talked about her intense sadness and hardships following the death of her brother in that interview. “When I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul,” she said. A protracted time of solitude, weight gain, and an episode of agoraphobia resulted from the terrible event.
Hayden talked about her close relationship with Jansen and how his untimely death saddened her. She sobbed, “He was my only sibling, and it was my responsibility to protect him.” She struggled greatly in the days that followed his passing, made worse by the invasive images from the funeral that made their way online and exacerbated her trauma.
Her unhappiness and uncertainties caused her to doubt herself all the time. She acknowledged that it gave rise to the negative habit of questioning if she was “good enough to go out.” Fortunately, Marnie Alton, her personal trainer, gave her encouragement and helped her acquire confidence again. She eventually conquered her fear of spiders.
Her sense of worth restored with time, even though she is aware that she will always be affected by her brother’s death. “It will break my heart forever. “It’s something I’ll never be able to move past,” she said.
Even with Hayden’s emotional transparency, worries about her behavior soon took center stage throughout their talk. Her speech and body language conveyed grave concern. As soon as possible, fans expressed their fury on social media.
Many wondered if the actress had fallen back into her previous addictions. “Slurred speech, eyes barely able to stay open trying to make it through long words clearly not sober,” remarked one fan. Very sad [sic].”
“This is complete exploitation,” stated a second worried spectator. This addict is obviously highly inebriated.” Some even likened her actions to those of Anna Nicole Smith, who also battled substance problems and received widespread media attention.
Professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd from “Dancing with the Stars” also weighed in, stating, “This interview should be removed asap!!” Not every answer, though, was negative.
A few people fiercely defended Hayden. You folks behave as though certain medications given for severe mental illnesses aren’t able to make you fall asleep. passing judgment when you are ignorant,” a fan commented.
“Hayden, you deal with this any way you know how,” echoed another. I have no idea how much anguish you must be in.” Her publicist assured Page Six that the actress had not relapsed in response to the mounting anxiety.
They clarified that her look was impacted by the emotional strain of the interview together with a long and exhausting day. The representative said, “She was not under the influence.”
Part of the concern around Hayden’s condition stems from her past issues with addiction. The actress discussed her years-long struggle with booze and painkillers in a 2022 interview with People, acknowledging that it nearly ended her career. She said, “I was on top of the world, and I ruined it.”
At the age of fifteen, she began her trek towards addiction. Before public appearances, she was introduced to “happy pills” by a member of her staff. They were unaware that it would result in years of dependence.
While preserving her public persona during her peak acting career in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” she struggled with addiction in private. But it would only become more challenging.
Hayden’s alcoholism was made worse by her postpartum depression in 2014, following the birth of her daughter Kaya. In the meantime, she started to lose her relationship with Kaya’s father, Wladimir Klitschko, which ultimately resulted in their breakup.
In the end, Hayden explained that she wanted to be a good mother and sometimes that meant letting her go when she made the painful decision to send Kaya to live with Klitschko in Ukraine in 2018. She admitted, “It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.”
After her daughter left, Hayden’s drinking got worse, which resulted in serious health issues like jaundice. Her liver was failing, according to doctors, so she spent eight months in rehab.
Hayden, who is sober now, attributes her rehabilitation to her will to change and her therapy. Even though she doesn’t see her daughter in person every day, she said in her most recent interview that Kaya has grown to be her “mini-me.”
Her battles with addiction are comparable to those of other Hollywood celebrities who entered the entertainment industry at a young age, such as Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes. In actuality, Hayden was a kid star before her appearances in “Heroes,” “Nashville,” and the “Scream” franchise garnered her widespread recognition.
She had appearances in plays like “If You Believe,” “Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke,” and “Touched by an Angel.” In addition, Hayden appeared in guest spots on “Ally McBeal” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
As we previously reported, Hayden’s family disclosed her brother’s cause of death in late February 2023. On February 19, 2023, Jansen abruptly passed away at the age of 28, leaving behind his girlfriend and family.
Similar to his elder sister, Jansen gained recognition as an actor for his parts in “The Last Day of Summer,” “The X’s,” “Ice Age: The Meltdown,” and “The Walking Dead” television series.
A week after his passing, the family spoke about the tragedy and provided followers with more details in a statement. “Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes,” they disclosed. Along with his sister, Alan “Skip” Panettiere and Lesley Vogel, he has the following parents:
Those who knew Jansen well, notably his family, have kind words to say about him. They also disclosed that he died of an enlarged heart, which prompted one fan to remark that his heart was “too big for this world.” He also had a disorder known as cardiomegaly, which is medically related to “aortic valve complications.”
