Helen Mirren’s Husband Doesn’t Make Her Feel Beautiful – How She Defies Beauty Standards

One day at a time, Helen Mirren is shattering stereotypes about women’s attractiveness. The actress now sports lengthy hair after eschewing her famous bob style. Another method of dispelling myths about what older women may and cannot do with their hair was this. She is about eighty years old and has accepted aging with grace.
British actress Helen Mirren has won numerous accolades. Normally, she rocks a short hairstyle, but during the COVID-19 lockdown, that wasn’t the case.

The seasoned actress made the decision to give growing her hair a go. Initially showcasing her new appearance, Mirren was promoting “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” in which she plays the antagonist Hespera.

Mirren’s hair began to grow after she spent the epidemic stuck inside the house. She stated that she would be keeping her long strands for some time because she could not be bothered to get them clipped. She realized that she hadn’t seen her hair long since her 20s when she looked at herself in the new hairstyle.
Aside from that epiphany, Mirren is also attempting to defy conventional gender norms. The actress is attempting to dispel the myth that long hair is inappropriate for elderly ladies in this instance.

An alum of “The Queen” is always cheering for women over sixty. She underlined that life doesn’t end as a person ages; instead, creativity, passion, and vitality are still present and will remain so until they choose to quit.

Because she feels her generation has suffered from ageism for far too long, Mirren is determined to challenge the norms of beauty for older women. The well-known celebrity claimed in 2019 that it irritated her that goods designed for women in her generation are marketed with a 15-year-old’s face on them.

The actress also mentioned how she didn’t like the term “beautiful.” Mirren acknowledged that she disliked the term because it made those who were self-conscious about their appearance feel alienated.

On the set of her film “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” she displayed more strength. The native of London disclosed that during one of her pranks, she shattered her finger. She exclaimed about her fortitude and how, despite her desire to feel like a “stunty,” she did not complain.

Despite having some length in her hair, Mirren’s classic 1970s bob cut still holds a special place in the hearts of some of her fans. They claimed that the actress’s short hair made her appear much younger and that it is common knowledge that having longer hair as one ages is not advised.

whatever, a different commenter defended the Hollywood star, pleading for people to give older ladies the space and freedom to style their hair whatever they like.

Helen Mirren Forgets Her Age

Mirren was featured in People’s 2022 Beautiful Issue, and since the actress is not a big fan of the word “beauty,” she suggested another term that would be equally empowering.
“I love the word swagger because it makes me feel like I’m enjoying the world around me, presenting myself to the world, and I’m confident in myself,” she said. Mirren even suggested that the entire beauty industry be renamed the “swagger” industry in order to instill confidence in individuals.

The “Red” actress claimed she was surprised to be selected for the cover of a beauty-focused magazine because she had never thought of herself as attractive.

Even though Mirren may not always see her attractiveness, her admirers never fail to compliment her on how beautiful she appears. While getting ready for the Oscars, she shared a selfie with her hair undone and her face naked.

Fans complimented her on her inherent beauty and mentioned how much of an example she was to ladies all across the world in her comment area.

When Mirren appeared on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2018, she said that she was unaware of her age of 72, further demonstrating her agelessness. She thought she was seventy-three.

She and her husband, Taylor Hackford, both forget how old they are and often have to calculate, but they do not always land on the correct number. The actress said at first, their calculations added up to 74 years.

But she realized something was not right. So they recalculated and landed on 73, just to find out on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” that they were wrong again.

Mirren was thrilled to be two years younger than she had anticipated, though. “I have one more year left? “How cute is that?” she exclaimed. The talk show presenter made a joke about how age is a sign of ignorance when it comes to Mirren, but she still thought the actress looked fantastic.

The movie star, who recently turned 79, is optimistic about getting older. She remembered her mother telling her not to worry about getting older in a March 2024 interview.

“At twenty, the idea of turning forty seems overwhelming. “You’ll think the same thing about being sixty when you’re sixty, and so on and so forth,” Mirren recalled.

She went on to say, “Aging is wonderful; it’s great! One of the best things is that you discover it becomes less about yourself. […] Either you grow old or you die early. I also don’t want to pass away too soon because I find life to be so amazing. Have fun with it.

When it comes to cosmetic enhancement procedures, Mirren refuses to judge those who go under the knife to alter their appearance. She said they are free to do whatever makes them feel good about themselves.

“As long as you look in the mirror in the morning and you think, ‘I feel great and I’m off to face the day.’ Not necessarily, ‘I look great, but I feel great,’” Mirren explained.

Helen Mirren Does Not Expect Her Husband to Make Her Feel Beautiful

During the interview for her Beautiful issue, Mirren was asked if her husband made her feel beautiful, and she said he did not. “I don’t think he ever makes me feel beautiful. It’s not necessary. That’s not what I love him for, honestly,” said Mirren.

For twenty-six years, Mirren and her partner have been wed. But things did not get off to a good start between them. Hackford held Mirren waiting for an audition when the two first met while working on the movie “White Nights.”

He acknowledged that despite what he had heard about the actress’s kindness, their first meeting had been odd because the actress did not hide her wrath. However, things improved between the pair the more they got to know one another.

The way Hackford engaged with his kids won Mirren over. She admired his unwavering dedication to his sons. In 1970, Hackford welcomed his first child, Rio, into the world with his first wife, Georgie Lowres. In 1979, he married Lynne Littmann, and the two welcomed their second child, Alexandra.

Despite their successful twenty-year marriage, Mirren acknowledged that she was first apprehensive about getting married.

However, she and her husband decided to get married because they knew they would be together forever, so their reason to marry was solely for legal reasons, like planning their estate. But initially, marriage was not Mirren’s taste until she realized she needed to find the right person to make it easier to digest.
