Jennifer Garner has recently taken a significant step to preserve her family’s history.
|Jennifer Garner is celebrated for her relatable and down-to-earth persona, making her one of the most beloved celebrities. Her Instagram account is filled with wholesome content centered around motherhood and the challenges of everyday life.
Patricia English Garner is Jennifer Garner’s mother, and as a young girl, Patricia cherished fond memories of her upbringing on a farm in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She even recalls how her parents purchased a piece of land that has remained in their family for generations. In 1936, her parents acquired this land using a bonus her father had received for his service in World War I.
At the time of the purchase, the family had only $700. Patricia remembers that her father, a war veteran, and her mother didn’t even own a car. They had to hire someone to transport them to the property.
“My parents didn’t even have a car, so when they heard about the land that was for sale, they hired someone to drive them to the property. The farm consisted of a two-room house and 20 acres, minus 1 acre at the heart of the property, which was a Native American cemetery,” Patricia said.
Patricia shared the story of her father haggling over $20 for an entire day. When they finally agreed on a price, the deal was sealed, and the land became a part of their family’s heritage.
As expected for a structure from that era, the farm didn’t even have running water or indoor plumbing. Jennifer’s mother had vivid memories of growing up on that 20-acre property.
Over the years, as family members grew up and moved away, the farm changed hands multiple times. It was bought and sold repeatedly, with different family members taking ownership. Then, in 2017, Jennifer Garner decided to buy the farm herself.
Her motivation was not merely sentimental; she had a vision to transform it into a profitable business once more. To achieve this, she enlisted the help of her uncle Robert and aunt Janet, who had previously owned the farm.
The farm had lain dormant for 40 years, but in the past, Patricia, her siblings, and her mother had been enthusiastic farmers, selling pecans and cultivating lettuce, radishes, and potatoes.
Jennifer aimed to revive those agricultural traditions. She founded “Once Upon a Farm” with co-founders Ari Raz, John Foraker, and Cassandra Curtis. The concept was to grow organic fruits and vegetables that could be used to create nutritious food for children.
She mentioned that she had dreamt about this project for a while, saying, “once upon a time… we dreamed of bringing baby food back to the roots with organic fruits and veggies harvested from local farmers, blended with love and served fresh from the fridge. We dreamed of feeling less stressed about mealtimes because we could feed our little ones foods that give them all the nutrients they need – and then some!”
Jennifer emphasized the importance of providing busy moms with access to nutritious food.
The company was established in 2018 and has since achieved significant success. Their products are available at major retailers across America and can also be purchased online through the company’s website.
It’s truly heartwarming that Jennifer Garner not only purchased the farm for its sentimental value but also turned it into a thriving business.
