Jimmy Carter Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Wife Rosalynn at Funeral

Adorned in a stylish suit and draped in a blanket, Jimmy Carter was wheeled into the funeral of his late wife, Rosalynn, on Tuesday. He took his place at the front of the proceedings to bid farewell to his wife of over 77 years.

Despite being 99 years old and currently in hospice care, Carter made the two-and-a-half-hour journey from his home in Plains, Georgia, to Atlanta for the event. His wife’s remains had been transported to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum on Monday.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden were also present at the funeral. All former first ladies, including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Melania Trump, and Laura Bush, were invited and attended the event. They were seen entering Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon in a line.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Chip Carter, the former president’s son, shared that his father had been with Rosalynn during her final moments, expressing his love for her and pride in all the “wonderful things she had done” in her life.

Rosalynn Carter was renowned for her advocacy for mental health awareness and improved services for the mentally ill. She ardently worked to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

On November 18, the day before Rosalynn’s passing, Jimmy allegedly requested a moment alone with his wife. Chip suggested that he might have been praying with her in their private chamber, where his own hospice bed was positioned foot-to-foot with hers, allowing them to share a gaze.
