The world was shocked by Joe Manganiello’s separation and eventual divorce from his ex-wife. Although their divorce was the subject of much conjecture, Sofia Vergara cleared it up earlier this year. That is, until we noticed that Manganiello now seemed to be interested in sharing his version of events.

Vergara spoke candidly about the couple’s divorce earlier this year. She told El País that Manganiello’s desire for children was the basis for their breakup. “I recently got divorced from my second husband, with whom I spent ten years,” she declared. The fact that my spouse was younger caused our marriage to end. “He wanted kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” she continued. I think it’s unfair to the infant. That’s no longer for me, but I appreciate those that do it.

The 47-year-old stated, “There’s been a lot said in the press about me wanting a family,” calling his ex-wife’s account of his desire for a family “simply not true.”

For the first year and a half, we did make an effort to start a family. And during the first month of our dating, we had a very important chat right away. “If you’re done with kids, then I understand,” I said. It’s okay if I just tell you; I’ll understand what this is. With her, though, that was not the case. And if things didn’t work out, I vowed to be with her forever. And I didn’t,” the performer said.

Manolo, 52, is Vergara’s son from a previous relationship, who is 32 years old.

Manganiello now wants the world to know that not having children together “wasn’t inevitably why everything ended.”

He responded simply, “It’s because two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens.”

The actor added that he was wounded by the portrayal of him following his divorce.

“To be portrayed as though I experienced some kind of midlife crisis, and then, nine years later, turn to someone and threaten to leave them if they don’t do this possibly harmful thing to their body? I was never like that,” he declared.

Manganiello and Vergara jointly announced their divorce in July 2023. And they completed their divorce in April of this year. Since then, Vergara has moved on and is currently seeing Dr. Justin Saliman.

In addition, Manganiello started dating actress Caitlin O’Connor. Earlier this year, the couple announced their love on social media, officially becoming a couple.

Close sources of the pair affirmed their fidelity to one another. “They’re in the honeymoon stage and in total and utter bliss,” a source claimed. They’ve been having the nicest time traveling and going on exciting date evenings together. They are excited to travel more as a pair and keep creating memories together.

“Both feel like they have finally found the right person and are excited about the future,” the insider said.

In the interview, Manganiello also discussed his recent romantic interest, remarking that it was comforting to have her around on difficult days.

The actor remarked, “Hopefully, you have a good partner in life when you have a bad day.”
