Congratulations are in order for Joel Kim Booster!
The actor, 36, got engaged to his partner John-Michael Sudsina while vacationing in Jeju Island, South Korea.
On Saturday, Aug. 31, Booster shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of himself proposing to Sudsina with the sweet caption: “Vacation boyfriend —-> Vacation husband. Try to be normal about this.”
In the image, the pair are both dressed in casual clothes while on a boat. Booster is wearing a white tank top and green cargo shorts, while his partner is wearing similar shorts with a gray tank top.
That same day, the Fire Island star shared more images from their vacation on Instagram. “Very much in love. Very happy. No matter where I am, he’s my home,” he captioned the post, which featured several loved-up photos of the couple.
The carousel starts with a handful of solo snaps from the trip as Booster posed with food and at different attractions. He also shared a few selfies of himself and Sudsina before venturing into engagement territory.
Toward the end of the carousel, a photograph of the couple cozying up on the boat is included and then the aforementioned engagement picture. Following the two images is a snap of the pair holding hands with Sudsina’s simple, gold engagement ring on display.
Several celebrities offered their congratulations in the comments, including Amber Ruffin, who wrote, “Congrats to the magazine that gets to profile the wedding.”
Larry Owens commented, “😭😭😭🥰🥰🥰🥰 CONGRATS YOU TWO !!!!” while Quinta Brunson wrote, “Congrats Joel!”
Adam Pally suggested a toast for the couple, writing, “Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy🍾🍾🍾.”
In a June appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast, Booster revealed that he and Sudsina met in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, which he referred to as “gay Disneyland.”
“It was the first big party weekend, and we met out through mutual friends on the first night and I took him home and we, ya know, watched the sunrise together on the beach and talked after we hooked up,” he recalled at the time.
Later in the episode, Booster spoke about potentially getting married and said he was unsure if his conservative mom would go to the wedding.
“She loves [Sudsina] and she asks about him all the time. And I think, you know, as I have sort of brought up the subject of marrying him, that is when things get a little dicey,” he said.
“She changes the subject a little bit. I think she loves him and loves that I’m happy and I think like the Republican conservative in her is like, maybe that’s a step too far,” Booster continued. “It’s like, I don’t know if she would be at our wedding or not. And again, I don’t need her to and it doesn’t hurt me.”
According to Sudsina’s social media, he works as a video game producer for Riot Games. He previously was a world producer for the Electronic Arts game The Sims.
