King Charles III seen for the first time since being hospitalized amid cancer battle

King Charles III was seen for the first time since being hospitalized for unexpected side effects from his cancer treatment.

The British monarch, 76, was photographed waving to well-wishers in London on Friday as he made his way from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace.

Charles looked on while sitting in the back seat of an SUV in a black suit, which he paired with a white button-down shirt and a red tie.

His wife, Queen Camilla, was not spotted during the brief appearance.

Charles’ appearance comes just one day after he was hospitalized — and forced to cancel his engagements — following his ongoing cancer treatment at the private London Clinic.

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told the Sun on Thursday, “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the king experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

The rep also noted that the king had been discharged and returned to his estate.

The palace added that Charles would reschedule his engagements on Friday “as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice.”

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the statement concluded.

Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing a procedure for a benign enlarged prostate.

They did not, however, reveal what type of cancer he was diagnosed with.

The news came just weeks before the king’s daughter-in-law Kate Middleton revealed her own cancer diagnosis.

Though it is also unclear what type of cancer she had, the Princess of Wales, 43, has been in remission since earlier this year.
