Selena Gomez surprises Colorado high school volleyball team who pleaded she sing national anthem: ‘I saw the sign!’
|The starlet Selena Gomez showed support for a local volleyball team that had publicly begged for her attendance by surprising kids at a high school in Colorado.
During her unexpected visit to Telluride High School over the weekend to promote her film “Emilia Pérez,” students put up a bright orange poster requesting that Gomez sing the national anthem, offering two possible dates between August 30 and August 31.
“They enquired! “It’s my first time in Telluride, I couldn’t help it,” the Emmy Award nominee wrote on social media.
The actress from “Only Murders in the Building” shared a slideshow of the occasion on social media, complete with a video of her startling the teenage athletes competing on the court as she entered the gym. The same video shows her being greeted by supporters who ran onto the stage.
The singer of “Come & Get It,” 32, will be present at the Telluride Film Festival this weekend for a screening of “Emilia Pérez,” Jacques Audiard’s latest film in which she co-stars with Zoe Saldaña.
The film, which is titled as a comedy, drama, and musical, was shot in Spanish and is slated to open in a few theaters in November. At the Cannes Film Festival in May, it was given an 11-minute standing ovation.
Saldana said, “The kindest heart indeed,” in response to Gomez’s remark.
Benny Blanco, Gomez’s boyfriend and record producer, also praised her and added three heart emojis to his comment.
After Gomez was seen casually exiting a Subway in Los Angeles on September 29 with a plain gold band on her ring finger while she carried her phone, chips, and sunglasses, engagement rumors between the actress and Blanco, 36, started to circulate.
By revealing a tip that Blanco apparently proposed to the singer at a beach house “surrounded by friends,” Deuxmoi stoked the rumors.
Fans on TikTok observed her account followed CMG Weddings & Events, a “luxury” wedding planning company that hosts events in Napa, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, less than two weeks before to the gold ring sighting. She continues to monitor the event industry as of this writing.
