What Happened To The ‘Baywatch’ Bombshell, Erika Eleniak, Who Looked ‘Gross’ And ‘Completely Different’ Last Year – Jaw-dropping Photos

As the stunning lifeguard Shauni McClain in “Baywatch,” Erika Eleniak enthralled millions of people by personifying the pinnacle of beach glamor in the 1990s. Recent images of the former bombshell, though, have prompted discussions about her astonishing metamorphosis.

When Erika Eleniak starred in Steven Spielberg’s iconic film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” her career took off in the early 1980s. However, her work on “Baywatch” solidified her place in popular culture, as her red swimsuit and sun-kissed hair came to represent the popular program.

Nonetheless, life outside of Hollywood’s glamour turned out to be full of unforeseen twists and turns. Eleniak’s journey was not without its challenges, ranging from leaving “Baywatch” to pursue film jobs, to accepting motherhood and dealing with personal losses.

Fans were recently taken aback by images that revealed how drastically the once-loved actress had altered. Watch the actress’ incredible makeover, which shocked social media users into thinking she was someone else entirely.

Born in Glendale, California, on September 29, 1969, Erika Eleniak began her acting career at the age of ten. As a young actress, she demonstrated early promise by appearing in a number of television episodes, movies, commercials, and theater projects.

Her breakthrough performance was in the science fiction classic “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” directed by Steven Spielberg, in 1982. Although Eleniak’s time on the set wasn’t without its challenges, the movie—which is today regarded as one of Hollywood’s most iconic—was a turning point in her career.

The fact that there was some trauma as a result of that kiss is one thing that really sticks out to me. It was really terrible. She remembered, “I cried in my little trailer,” and how Spielberg had to comfort her.

Eleniak felt more at peace when the well-known director took the time to explain what a closed set was to her and her mother. She also revealed that Elliott’s actor Henry Thomas wasn’t overly excited about the sequence.

Eleniak recalled Spielberg as a “fun, big kid” who enjoyed entertaining his youthful ensemble, despite the awkward moments.

When Eleniak played Shauni McClain in the television film “Baywatch: Panic at Malibu Pier,” in 1989, her career took a dramatic swing. When “Baywatch” became a television series that same year, the character would subsequently propel her to popularity.

Eleniak remarked, “I felt like I auditioned six times,” in reflection on the audition process. There were numerous hurdles to clear in order to proceed.” Even while the show grew to be associated with beach, sun, and lifeguards, filming wasn’t always as idyllic as it seemed.

Eleniak noted that the cast had to put up with difficult circumstances to give the appearance of pleasant, sunny California weather during their first filming, which took place in January, the coldest month of the year. “I recall spending the coldest day of the year splashing around in the lake. We couldn’t utilize the footage because our lips were so blue,” the actress disclosed.

Even in the frigid wind, water was sprayed on the actors to give the impression that they were perspiring. She compared the cast and crew to a large, supporting family and treasured the relationships that were made on site, despite the discomfort.

Eleniak maintained that, despite what the public believes, there was no competition between the women when she was a cast member of “Baywatch.” Not a bit of that. Everyone was incredibly kind,” she said.

A Shift in Eleniak’s Career and Personal Life

New characters and plots were added to “Baywatch” as its popularity increased, frequently leading the program in a more provocative path. In 1992, Eleniak, a mainstay of the show since its beginning, decided it was time to move on and departed.

Eleniak gave a reflection on her leaving and said that the network had been cautious at first. There were some things you chose not to speak or display. Since then, a lot of things have changed,” she said.

The actress said that although the show’s enormous popularity was largely due to its change towards a racier tone, it did not personally sit well with her. “To be honest, I didn’t feel at ease and thought the show was odd. Being extremely risqué was absolutely not her thing, she said.

Eleniak was aware of the expectations of her job, which included saving lives while wearing tiny swimwear, but she frequently disagreed with the show’s designers about what they considered attractive.

Eleniak stated that her love of movies was the main reason she left, despite the difficulties. The blonde actress said, “My heart was in films, and it was calling.”

With a desire to investigate a wider variety of roles, she departed from “Baywatch” and promptly entered the film industry. Eleniak found work soon after leaving, costarring with Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Busey, and Steven Seagal in the action film “Under Siege” from 1992.

Eleniak found that filming was a demanding experience, but she accepted it. “We shot in Mobile, Alabama, for three months. It was also a difficult shoot,” she recollected.

With 1,800 individuals making up the crew, Eleniak was put in a demanding yet instructive situation. “While I was watching Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey work on that shoot, I learned a lot. For me, it was a fantastic learning opportunity,” the woman remarked.

Pamela Anderson assumed her “Baywatch” position after Eleniak left, adding her own unique presence to the program. In a 2021 podcast episode, Eleniak respectfully acknowledged the influence of Anderson and said that no one did it better than Anderson.

Eleniak has important events in her personal life in addition to her career endeavors. She gave birth to a daughter, who was featured on her social media accounts on a regular basis.

In 2023 and 2024, the actress celebrated her daughter on Instagram in observance of National Daughter’s Day, stating graciously in part, “I have to honor the best woman I know, my Indy.” I’ve never encountered a more admirable person or someone who is more DIVINE.”

Unfortunately, Eleniak experienced difficult times in 2021 after losing her mother and stepfather in quick succession. “My best friend is her. Regarding her late mother, the actress remarked, “She’s my — literally my best friend.”

Eleniak’s Transformation – A New Look for the ‘Baywatch’ Bombshell

Eleniak used to be well-known for playing the blonde, beach-ready Shauni McClain in “Baywatch,” but she now has a very different appearance. Eleniak represented the classic lifeguard in the red swimsuit, her toned body and golden locks evoking the glitz of the decade.

Recent images, however, show a striking shift that stunned several social media users. The actress now has a more carefree look and is frequently spotted wearing casual clothes and no makeup.

The actress, who was before praised for her innocent beauty, now favors a heavily tattooed appearance, showing off full-sleeve ink on both arms.

Eleniak revealed that although the elaborate sleeve work is a relatively recent development, her interest in body art dates back to her late twenties.

“I’m probably done with my sleeve work for five years or less. It’s not actually consecutive; it’s been a work in progress over the years of starting and stopping,” she clarified.

Eleniak has also made hints about getting more ink, implying that she may eventually cover her entire back with tattoos. Given her continued expansion of her body art, she may eventually have an even more distinct appearance than she does today.
