Field chuckled and looked around before admitting, “Oh boy. Shall I really name names here?” Host Andy Cohen encouraged her to do so, and she responded, “Okay. This is going to be a shocker. Hold on folks.” The Oscar-winning actress then revealed that her former boyfriend, the late Burt Reynolds, was the culprit.

Cohen, surprised, asked, “But weren’t you dating at the time?” Field explained that during the filming of “Smokey and the Bandit,” she had to “look the other way” because kissing on-screen was not something Reynolds did willingly.

During their time sharing the screen, Field noted there was a lot of “drooling” on Reynolds’ part. The two co-stars met in 1977 while filming “Smokey and the Bandit” and dated for about five years. Reynolds, who passed away at 82, reportedly discussed their relationship in his memoir “But Enough About Me.”

In March, Field explained to Variety that she had stopped speaking with Reynolds in the final 30 years of his life for a valid reason. She elaborated, “He was not someone I could be around… He was just not good for me in any way. And he had somehow invented in his rethinking of everything that I was more important to him than he had thought, but I wasn’t. He just wanted to have the thing he didn’t have. I just didn’t want to deal with that.”
