Cajun Singer Makes The Voice History — Dustin Dale Gaspard’s Soulful French Performance Sparks Rare 4-Chair Turn!
|A Historic Moment On The Voice
Even after 28 seasons, The Voice can still surprise everyone. On Monday, October 6, the Blind Auditions took a powerful turn when Dustin Dale Gaspard, a 33-year-old “swamp pup musician” from Cow Island, Louisiana, stepped onto the stage and delivered the first-ever Cajun French performance in the show’s history.
Gaspard proudly describes his hometown as a place “with as many people as alligators.” His sound blends New Orleans rhythm and blues, country-western storytelling, and traditional Cajun melodies, creating something truly unique.

A Musician On A Mission
Life hasn’t been easy for Gaspard, who currently lives out of his car and performs at bars, festivals, and small-town events across the country. But when he walked onto The Voice stage with his guitar and harmonica, it was clear he was ready to turn hardship into opportunity.
Before he even started singing, Coach Michael Bublé noticed:
“He’s playing the harmonica already?” he said in surprise.
Gaspard launched into a soulful rendition of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home to Me”, switching effortlessly between English and Cajun French.
A Rare 4-Chair Turn
As his heartfelt performance filled the room, one by one, the coaches turned their chairs. Then, in a moment that drew cheers from the audience, all four chairs spun — a 4-Chair Turn, one of the rarest and most celebrated moments in The Voice history.

Niall Horan called him “proper unique” and joked, “Please pick me, I love you.”
-
Reba McEntire, connecting through their Southern roots, said:
“I’m from southeastern Oklahoma, so not far from where you are. You’re different. You’re unusual. You’re refreshing. And you can sing and play.”
-
Michael Bublé praised his “authenticity” and “uniqueness.”
-
Snoop Dogg added his signature charm, singing:
“If you ever change your mind and think about leaving, leaving me behind, pick me, bring it on over to me.”
Team Niall Lands The Cajun Trailblazer
In the end, after heartfelt pitches from all four coaches, Dustin Dale Gaspard chose to join Team Niall, setting the stage for what could be a groundbreaking season.
His bilingual, soul-soaked performance has already become a standout moment of The Voice Season 28 — and possibly the start of a historic run.
