Robert Irwin Wows With “Wicked” Night Dance – “A Joyful, Theatrical Treat”

During Week 6 of Season 34, themed around the hit musical Wicked, the 20-year-old Australian wildlife conservationist and his professional dance partner Witney Carson delivered a dazzling jazz routine to “Dancing Through Life.”
The episode was one of the most exciting of the season, featuring ten remaining celebrities performing routines inspired by Wicked. The show even welcomed Jon M. Chu, the director of the upcoming Wicked film adaptation, as a guest judge for the evening.

“That needs to be your theme song… that was so ambitious. You really took the challenge and you nailed it.”
Judge Derek Hough was equally impressed, joking that Robert should trade his hiking boots for Broadway shoes.
“You were meant to be on stage. You’re a performer.”
And Bruno Tonioli added the perfect summary of the night:
“It really was a joyful, theatrical treat. You handled every situation brilliantly. Your energy, your determination, and your commitment to every performance are laudable.”
Scores and Reaction
Each of the four judges awarded Robert Irwin and Witney Carson a 9 out of 10, giving them a total of 36 points for the night — one of the highest scores of the season.
The judges’ scores will be combined with last week’s totals and the public votes to determine who will face elimination next week. Fans have already taken to social media to call Robert “the heart of the season” and the one to beat for the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
