Adele has performed for large crowds countless times, but when her son saw her perform for the first time when he was 9, she admitted that it made her nervous. The singer is a devoted mother and opened up about how difficult her divorce was on her son.

The world knows her as Adele, but her full name is Adele Adkins. The singer is known for her powerful voice and her very emotive songs. Adele has revealed her son’s name, but before this, she kept it private and only publicly referred to him as “little peanut.” In 2013, the singer was photographed out in West Hollywood with a gold necklace with the name “Angelo.”

At the time, Adele had the media speculating if that was her son’s name. While backstage at the Golden Globes, where she won an award for her vocals in the James Bond soundtrack, “Skyfall,” she was asked about her son’s name. She said, “I am not sharing his name at the moment. It is very personal to me,” adding, “I am enjoying him on my own.”

The “Someone Like You” star opened up about the process of her creating her latest album and revealed that most of it was dedicated to her son. After ending her marriage with her son’s father, Simon Konecki, Adele blamed herself for breaking up her family.

She remembered the difficult time when she would record voice memos with Angelo and how “horrible” it was. She also featured a few of them in her album. This album was not the only one that had songs about her son. During her 73 Questions with Vogue feature, Adele said one of her favorite songs from her 19 album was “Remedy” because it was about him.

She confessed that the separation made her son sad at times, and it was a wound she knew would take time to heal. However, in creating her album, she hoped her son would listen to it when he was much older and understand why she ended her marriage for her happiness.

Some of the questions that Angelo had for her, like why she and her husband were not living together anymore, were difficult for her to answer. The mother revealed that one of the first songs she wrote for the album was “Easy on Me,” which was her asking for kindness as she had also made the difficult decision to leave a marriage.

The break-up between Adele and her husband was kept a secret because they had to allow their child to adjust. Whenever questions were asked, Adele got away with telling people that she was working abroad and that her ex-husband was in England.

Despite the heartbreaking separation, Adele has a lot of love for her child’s father. She said she chose the best person to have a child with and that they still shared a close relationship.

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer confessed that she made a lot of “knee-jerk” decisions, but having a son with Konecki was the best decision she’s made. Although she never got to expand her family with her ex-husband, Adele said she wants more children. “I am a homemaker. I am a matriarch, and a stable life helps my music,” she expressed.

Adele has kept her son out of the limelight, but there was one time when he finally saw her perform in public. He was 9 then and he sat among the crowd who watched the crooner perform in one of her special concerts, “Adele One Night Only.”

On the night of the “Adele One Night Only” special, she tweeted, “It was also the first time my son saw me perform, and I’ve never been so nervous!! I hope you like it.” To perform songs from the album that was dedicated to her son was nerve-wracking for the singer.

Adele had a star-studded audience, but in the middle of the performance, she stopped to let everyone know that it was the first time her son was watching her perform. “It is an absolute honor of my life,” she expressed and told him how beautiful and handsome he looked.

The singer shares a very close relationship with her son. When asked what it meant for Konecki to come into her life, without holding anything back, she said her ex-husband and son saved her life. Despite being exes, Adele still said she trusted Konecki with her life and that she still had a lot of love for him.

Her son was not the only person who got her emotional while performing. At her recent Las Vegas performance, Adele noticed the doctor who delivered her son among the audience. The singer was visibly surprised and grateful as she stopped singing and approached the man to hug him.

As Adele’s career boomed, she opened up about her child being asked about her at school. She spoke of an incident when a few girls chased Angelo, asking him if Adele was his mother. However, she revealed that her son did not know her as Adele, so the situation felt like he was being bullied. The mother assured him he was not.

Mother and son have been adjusting to their new life in America. The “Easy on Me” singer said they still had their British accents, but her son was becoming more well-spoken than her.

She was also seen coming back from the grocery store, where she bought a lot of vegetables, but the singer clarified that most of her grocery runs are filled with snacks like string cheese and milkshakes for her son.

The emotional work that went into her album, 30, paid off as the singer won the Mastercard UK Album of the Year. She expressed how proud she was of her vulnerability and courage to share something so personal and did not forget to thank her son for how gracious he was throughout the journey.

Adele has included her son in a lot of her music as a way to let him into some of her deepest feelings, but at the core of it, the singer wants him to be happy and to be a good person.
