Tallulah Willis unveiled her customized wedding gown designed by Balenciaga, which dramatically departed from traditional bridal styles. In an exclusive final fitting, held just over a week prior to her wedding, Tallulah allowed Vogue to witness the impressive creation.

On August 8, 2026, Tallulah, the youngest child of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, exchanged vows with musician Justin Acee in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Notably, Tallulah collaborated with Balenciaga’s creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, to design a custom couture dress, marking one of his initial bridal designs post his appointment.

Tallulah later reflected on the experience, describing it as surreal. ‘This morning, I feel almost out of body,’ she shared. ‘My family is here, and I’m trying on this dress, experiencing a princess moment.’

Demi Moore was also part of this significant moment, recalling her first encounter with Piccioli shortly after he launched his debut couture collection for Balenciaga. ‘Right after his first couture collection for Balenciaga, he spent four hours with us,’ Demi fondly remembered. ‘I believe he would have stayed playing with us all day.’

Tallulah enlisted the help of her mother’s longtime stylist, Brad Goreski, to gather ideas and references before the Balenciaga team turned those inspirations into couture. Brad stated that the aim was to craft a gown that felt ‘whimsical and ethereal’ while maintaining Balenciaga’s unique design philosophy.

The final fitting happened at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, just over a week before the wedding. Vogue was present for the event, where Tallulah’s mother and sisters Rumer and Scout accompanied her as she prepared to see the completed gown.

The Dress Unveiled

When Tallulah revealed the finished gown, the reaction was instantaneous. The strapless column dress, crafted from silk satin with silk organza backing, featured a draped train and an eye-catching bow at the back.

The bow was integral to the design; it emerged from Piccioli’s creative vision for the piece. Tallulah explained, ‘[The bow] was something that Pierpaolo wanted. He envisioned it as a package being unwrapped.’

This detail becomes especially striking when viewed from the back. The gown’s fitted silhouette transitions into a flowing skirt, and the oversized bow positioned low on the back adds a sculptural touch to the otherwise elegant piece.

The level of craftsmanship was equally extraordinary. The dress took a total of 712 hours to create, with 405 hours dedicated to its construction and alterations, while another nine hours were used to design the veil.

Artisans at the Balenciaga atelier performed the intricate hand embroidery. Each organza petal was meticulously beaded and then applied by hand, a process that alone accounted for about 60 hours of work.

Even the bodice was constructed with great care, utilizing cotton tulle and reinforced with hand-pivoted faille for added support. The neckline itself was inspired by a Balenciaga gown Demi wore at the Vanity Fair Oscar party earlier in 2026.

Tallulah vividly remembered that original inspiration. ‘It was a stunning, black, very simple sheath, but it had that sculptural Balenciaga [neckline],’ she noted.

Tallulah recalled her first impression when trying on an earlier version of her wedding dress, which had a flat neckline. She thought, wouldn’t it be beautiful to forego a necklace and focus solely on the shape.

When the sheer veil was finally placed over her head, the atmosphere shifted, with onlookers likening her finished bridal look to a ‘movie star goddess.’

In a reflective essay about her experiences, she recounted hurtful remarks such as, ‘Wow, she looks deformed.’ ‘Look at her man jaw — she’s like an ugly version of her dad.’ ‘Her mother must be so disappointed.’

These hurtful words took root in her psyche. What might have been anonymous commentary to most became for her a painful narrative about her self-image that she carried into adulthood.

Her challenges included body dysmorphia and an eating disorder. In a recounting of that time in 2023, she explained how anorexia nervosa intertwined with her self-perception and her family’s struggles as her father Bruce’s health deteriorated.

Tallulah has also shared her autism diagnosis from 2024, describing it as a life-changing revelation. Her recovery journey wasn’t swift; she candidly addressed seeking help, confronting her body image issues, and eventually prioritizing being present for her loved ones over appearance.
