DIANE KEATON CALLED ‘UGLY’ & ‘FAT’ AFTER ACCEPTING GRAY HAIR & BODY SHE FINDS JOY IN BEING A MOM OF 2 IN FARMHOUSE

Diane Keaton, originally born as Diane Hall, hails from Los Angeles, California. Her father, John Newton Ignatius “Jack” Hall, worked as a civil engineer and real estate broker, while her mother, Dorothy Deanne Keaton, pursued a career as a fledgling photographer. Having completed her studies in Drama, the Hollywood actress ventured further to garner star power and numerous accolades.

Keaton has solidified herself as a formidable presence in the entertainment industry, standing as one of the most successful and accomplished actresses in Hollywood. Four of her films, where she assumed leading roles, have been selected by the Library of Congress for the National Film Registry due to their cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance, influencing the landscape of entertainment and pop culture.

The Hollywood icon boasts a myriad of notable works. However, she is particularly celebrated for her memorable character portrayals in movies like “The Godfather: Part II,” “Annie Hall,” “The First Wives Club,” “Love and Death,” “Play It Again, Sam,” “Father of the Bride,” “Sleeper,” and “Something’s Gotta Give.” Additionally, she has collaborated with the legendary American filmmaker Woody Allen on several projects.

Throughout her career, Keaton has earned numerous accolades and awards, including an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1977 movie “Annie Hall,” a BAFTA nomination for “Manhattan,” and a Golden Globe nomination for “Looking for Mr. Goodbar,” among others.

Apart from her illustrious career, Keaton is known for her brief romantic involvements with fellow renowned stars. Despite being linked to several accomplished men in the industry, she has made it clear that she does not envision herself reentering the dating scene:

“I don’t date, [it’s] highly unlikely. I don’t remember anyone calling me, going, ‘This is so-and-so – I’d like to take you out.’ They don’t happen, of course not.”

Despite her single status, the “Book Club” talent has experienced a few public romantic relationships. Her on-and-off involvement with film legend Al Pacino in the late ’70s and early ’90s and a brief relationship with Allen and later Warren Beatty are among the most notable.

In an exclusive interview with Variety in 2016, Keaton delved into various aspects related to the release of her then-new movie “Rules Don’t Apply,” with Beatty as her dashing co-star. When asked about the qualities that she believes make Beatty stand out, she candidly responded:

“The first time I saw Warren was in ‘Splendor in the Grass’ [and] I mean, come on! He was to die for; a dream. I mean, ‘Bonnie and Clyde’? Come on, and not only was he beautiful, gorgeous, sexy and captivating, and mysterious and a great movie star, but he was also an unbelievable producer and director.”

In 2003, Keaton and iconic actor Keanu Reeves collaborated as co-stars in “Something’s Gotta Give.” Playing a couple on screen, their on-screen chemistry left fans wondering if there was ever an official off-screen romantic exploration between them. Allegedly, Reeves and Keaton only began dating two years after the movie’s release in 2005, with Reeves reportedly ending his relationship with Lynn Collins to pursue Keaton. Though the relationship was never formally confirmed, Keaton jokingly exclaimed about Reeves in a 2006 interview with Oprah Winfrey:

“I’m going to marry him. He likes an older woman.”

While enjoying her status as a beloved and iconic actress in Hollywood, Keaton has faced criticism, including body-shaming after her appearance at the 2014 Golden Globes. The star has also been accused of having an allegedly “ugly” personality, as expressed by a critic in 2022.

Diane Keaton Accepts Herself at 77

Keaton has traversed a considerable distance from her past self before reaching the pinnacle of her career and experiencing a rapid rise to international fame.

In a 2014 interview with Dr. Oz, the “Maybe I Do” star revealed her battle with bulimia in her twenties. According to the actress, she used to binge on 20,000 calories a day. Despite maintaining her slender and petite figure, for which she is widely known, Keaton felt like an obese person during that time:

“It was horrible [and] it was, of course, the lowest point in my life… I was a fat person. I was an obese person who had somehow tricked myself and managed to hide it. I’m an addict in recovery, [and] I’ll always be an addict [because] I have an addictive nature to me.”

Having overcome her battle with the eating disorder, Keaton claimed to have filled that void with a new obsession—being super focused on work and raising her children, even though they are now in their 20s.

At 77 years old, Keaton expressed her intention to embrace the process of aging naturally. At the 2014 Golden Globes, her gray hair became the main topic of discussion, with fans appreciating how she embraced the natural aging process, prompting blog posts on how to achieve Keaton’s silver mane.
