Mark Wahlberg Left Hollywood for Quiet Family Life in Nevada — Gets up at 2:30 AM to Spend More Time with Kids

Mark Wahlberg recently marked another year of life, continuing his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of his family and others.

Wahlberg, who is among the few who have successfully transitioned from music to acting, sold his custom-built mansion in California and relocated to Nevada to benefit his family.

From moving his family to advocating for a bill that aims to create around 16,000 jobs in Nevada, Wahlberg’s dedication to making a positive impact remains strong.

Family First
Wahlberg’s devotion to his family comes after a challenging childhood, marked by struggles and addiction that led to a jail sentence at the age of 16. His life took a turn when he met former Victoria’s Secret model Rhea Durham in New York in 2001.

By that time, he had already found success as a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block, but his understanding of success evolved as his relationship with Rhea deepened. The couple had their first two children before marrying in 2009.

“I owe a lot to my wife. She has helped me become the man that I am and created a beautiful life for me and our children,” he once said. “I also knew that she loved me for who I am and that she was someone I could trust. Until I met her, I wasn’t ready to have a family.”

Although Wahlberg is a major actor, his ultimate goal is to succeed as a father. Known for waking up at 2:30 a.m. to spend more time with his wife and their four children—Brendan, Grace, Ella, and Michael—he prioritizes his family above all else.

Leaving Hollywood for Nevada
Despite initially moving to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, Wahlberg wanted the best environment for his children to thrive.

With a demanding schedule balancing multiple businesses and acting, Wahlberg decided to move to Nevada to provide his children with a better life and to be more present with his family.

The “Daddy’s Home” star listed his Beverly Hills home for $90 million. Sources suggested that if sold at the asking price, it would be the most expensive house sold in the area.

Wahlberg had customized the Beverly Hills mansion to meet his children’s needs, creating the perfect home for raising them. However, he chose to move away from Hollywood to Nevada to give his children better opportunities and support their future endeavors.

He also envisioned Nevada as the ideal place to build a factory for his brand Municipal, a shoe factory, and a 2.0 Hollywood studio. In 2022, it was reported that Wahlberg made a significant investment in Las Vegas real estate, purchasing 2.5 acres of prime land in the exclusive Summit Club for $15.6 million.

Known for its luxurious megamansions, the 555-acre enclave off Town Center Drive between Tropicana Avenue and Flamingo Road features a golf course, custom-built homes, and round-the-clock security.

Nevada Life
Wahlberg loves his early mornings. Now that he lives in Nevada, he starts his day at 2:30 a.m., giving himself an extra 30 minutes in bed on his day off.

By the time his family wakes up, he has already completed a full day’s work. He starts his day with a 15-minute prayer, hits the gym, showers, takes a few business calls, and reviews scripts he is working on.

He is highly disciplined not only in the gym but also with his diet, doing his entire morning routine before breakfast as he only eats at six-hour intervals.

When he’s done with his work, his wife and kids are up, and he then makes breakfast for them and prepares them for the day.

Wahlberg ends his day at 6:30 p.m., although his wife isn’t always thrilled with his early bedtime. He occasionally suggests dinner at 4:30 p.m., but convincing her isn’t always easy.

In 2023, he actively lobbied Nevada state lawmakers to pass a bill encouraging more film production in Las Vegas.

Lobbying for Change
Standing outside the Nevada Legislature, Wahlberg shared his vision for local film studios to create jobs and diversify the economy.

“I’ve moved my last film here. I’m shooting another film here coming up in the summertime,” he said, highlighting the region’s opportunities for prosperity and growth.

Despite his busy schedule, Wahlberg’s goal is to work from home as much as possible and spend time with his family.

Birthday Celebration
On June 5th, Wahlberg, a celebrated actor and devoted family man, turned 53. In gratitude, he thanked everyone who sent him birthday wishes this year.

Alongside a short video, Mark wrote, “Thanks for all the birthday wishes.” In the video, he shared his birthday gift to himself.

“I’m gifting myself the gift of hard work on my birthday, and every day like it’s my birthday. Hard work is a gift, okay!” he said with a smile after being asked if he’d be taking the day off.

No matter the day or occasion, Mark Wahlberg consistently shows his dedication to what matters most to him.
