“Reba McEntire’s Controversial Elimination Choices Leave ‘The Voice’ Fans Frustrated – Here’s What Happened”
|In the latest playoff round on “The Voice,” five members of Team Reba competed, but only two of them made it to the live shows.
Fans had mixed reactions to Reba McEntire’s elimination choices during “The Voice” playoffs, ranging from deep disappointment to empathetic understanding.
Team Reba consisted of Adam Bohanan, Katie O, Edward Preble, Lauren-Michael Sellers, and Danny Joseph, all delivering memorable performances. Bohanan sang a soulful version of Chris Stapleton’s “Think I’m in Love With You,” while Preble performed Michael Bublé’s arrangement of “All of Me.”
Katie O joined “Yellowstone” star Lainey Wilson for a duet of Wilson’s song “Hang Tight Honey.” Meanwhile, Sellers gave a heartfelt performance of Jelly Roll’s “I Am Not Okay,” and Joseph reimagined Marvin Gaye’s classic “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” with a high-energy rock twist.
McEntire selected Bohanan and Joseph to advance to the live shows from Team Reba. However, her choices left some fans puzzled, as many questioned why she picked them over other standout performers on her team.
One fan expressed their frustration, writing, “LAUREN WAS ROBBED 😭💔.” Another fan questioned the coaches’ choices, stating, “Reba sending Lauren Michael home truly cost her the win. Gwen could have won with Jose and she cut him as well. What is up with these coaches choosing people who still need help rather than actual vocalists??”
Some fans were particularly passionate about Sellers, with one comment stating, “Lauren could have won The Voice this year. Got to say there are no bad singers this year, but so far the judges’ choices have not been great. Really disappointed ☹️.”
Another fan was shocked, saying, “Shocking beyond belief that a Country Star would pass over one of the best young Country singers ever to take The Voice stage! Simply unbelievable! 😱.”
Others voiced their frustration with Reba McEntire’s choices, with one commenting, “Totally disagreed with Reba’s decision tonight. Others were much better. For being a country artist, you didn’t even pick one. I was all for you until tonight 😞.” Another fan went as far as saying, “Bye bye Team Reba. It’s frustrating, I’m going to stop watching it and stop following the page.”
Some fans were puzzled by the decisions, like one who commented, “Wow, Adam – really? That’s a shocker. What is she thinking? I didn’t think he should have moved on the last round. And based on tonight’s performances, I don’t get it. Lauren or Edward would have been a better choice. Danny I agree with.”
Other comments highlighted missed opportunities, with one fan saying, “I am shocked 😳 that Katie O didn’t move on. She was good 😊 she had a good singing voice too! I think she should move on too. Come on, let’s go Katie O! [sic].”
Not everyone was critical, with some recognizing the difficulty of the decisions. One fan shared, “I feel for Reba here. Amazing talent. Hard to choose. I can’t say she chose average candidates and I also can’t say she left bad candidates out. Very, very tough choice with so much talent in the house.”
Another fan added, “There wasn’t a wrong decision, all 5 incredible in their own ways,” while one cheered for the team, saying, “Such a hard choice! Go Team Reba!!”
McEntire teamed up with Lainey Wilson to help select her team. NBC’s “The Voice” announced Wilson as a Playoff Advisor for McEntire on their official Instagram page.
