Toby Keith’s Wife Worked at Oil Company Before They Married She Fought For His Life Like a ‘trooper’

Toby Keith passed away on February 5, 2024, surrounded by his close family members. His devoted wife, Tricia Lucus, played a pivotal role in his life and fought tirelessly for his well-being. Tricia, a force behind Toby’s remarkable achievements, has also carved her own impressive path, showcasing her skills and creativity.

Through the ups and downs of life, spanning over three decades, Tricia Lucus consistently provided unwavering support and stability to her husband, Toby Keith.

Unfortunately, Toby succumbed to cancer on February 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. Tricia remained a caring and supportive partner until the end, as stated in a message shared on Keith’s Instagram, where the singer fought his battle with grace and courage.

The family requested privacy as they mourned the loss of the legendary songwriter and singer. Toby had disclosed his cancer diagnosis in a June 12, 2022, Instagram post, sharing his journey of undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery over the last six months.

Despite the challenges posed by his debilitating diagnosis, Toby Keith remained determined to regain strength for his passion. In September 2023, he gave a health update, emphasizing the nature of his ongoing treatment for stomach cancer. Tricia’s husband even managed to put on an impromptu show in July 2023.

Toby Keith is survived by his three children – daughters Shelley Covel Rowland and Krystal Keith, and son Stelen Keith Covel – shared with Tricia, a proud mother and successful businesswoman.

In January 2024, Toby expressed deep appreciation for his wife, acknowledging her role as a trooper and the best nurse during his illness.

Tricia and Toby celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in 2023, marking a significant journey that began in the late 1970s. Their love story unfolded in the midst of Toby’s pursuit of music and Tricia’s role as an oil company secretary. Despite financial challenges and uncertain prospects in the oil industry, Tricia stood by Toby’s side.

Toby’s breakthrough in the music industry came in 1993, leading to platinum status for his debut album and hit single “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” Tricia remained a steadfast source of support, offering practicality and grounded perspective throughout Toby’s evolving career.

In addition to her roles as a wife and mother, Tricia transitioned into entrepreneurship, leaving the oil industry for the world of fashion design.

She became a successful businesswoman, launching two sportswear companies: SwingDish and Covel.

SwingDish stands as a premium brand specializing in women’s golf apparel and accessories, seamlessly blending practicality with a touch of femininity. The inception of this brand was fueled by Tricia’s passion for fashion and a newfound love for the game of golf.

Conversely, Covel caters to men’s clothing, earning acclaim for its cutting-edge and high-performance fabrics. These fabrics boast SPF 50+ sun protection, moisture-wicking features, breathability, and exceptional stretch.

In addition to being a cornerstone of support in Toby’s life, Tricia has successfully established herself as an entrepreneur and devoted mother to their exceptional children.

The family is currently grieving the loss of a husband, father, and beloved companion of more than 40 years.
