Women used to go crazy for him, but now they say he’s “washed up”: He gave up fame for his sick daughter, went through hell, and today, few people recognize him.

Actor Matt LeBlanc, famous for his role as Joey Tribbiani in the hit ’90s series Friends, looks almost unrecognizable these days. This is the first time the star has been seen in public since the funeral of his colleague and friend, Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing. LeBlanc was spotted wearing a cap that covered his graying hair, and when he removed it, it revealed that he’s balding. For his outing, he opted for a casual look with dark jeans and a black T-shirt.

What’s also noticeable is that the actor has gained some weight, which is a stark contrast to his image as one of the most attractive cast members of Friends. In July, LeBlanc turned 57, and while he currently doesn’t have any acting projects lined up, he continues to live off the fame he earned in the ’90s. The death of Matthew Perry hit him hard, as the two shared a close bond both on and off-screen.

LeBlanc was married to American actress Melissa McKnight, with whom he shares a daughter, Marina Pearl. Tragically, when Marina was only eight months old, she was diagnosed with a brain disorder. LeBlanc noticed something was wrong when she would fall to the left side every time she tried to crawl. As a result, he withdrew from acting to focus on raising his daughter.

LeBlanc and McKnight divorced in 2006, and by 2011, he had distanced himself entirely from the media. In an interview, he said, “I don’t know if it was my daughter’s illness or being too focused on work, but I felt burned out and needed time to step away. I called my agent and told him to forget my number for a few years. I was lucky enough to be able to quit for a while. Those were moments when I felt like I was on the verge of a breakdown.”
