Won a Grammy and took a jab at President Trump: Shakira didn’t hold back with her comments

Colombian singer Shakira released her 12th studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, on March 22, 2024.
This album is her first studio release in seven years and includes 16 songs—eight new tracks, a remix, and seven previously released hit singles like Music Sessions Vol. 53 with Bizarrap and TQG with Karol G.
So far, the album has reached 3.7 billion streams on Spotify. During the promotion, Shakira described the creative process as “alchemical,” saying that through songwriting and singing, she was able to transform her emotions—turning tears into “diamonds” and vulnerability into strength.
After winning a Grammy, she took the stage in Los Angeles, clearly thrilled by her victory.
However, she put her personal success aside to speak about a major issue affecting the U.S. since President Trump took office she addressed the situation of immigrants, particularly those Trump plans to deport.
“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved. You matter, and I will always stand with you,” Shakira said, openly expressing her support for the country’s immigration policies.
But Shakira might have forgotten that the President is targeting only ILIGAL ones and he has nothing against Legal immigrants.
Then before ending her speech, she also took a moment to thank her two sons, who were watching proudly from the audience: “I am so proud of you for your kind hearts. Thank you so much for supporting me the way you do. I love you, and thank you.”
Jennifer Lopez presented Shakira with the prestigious award, marking their first time on stage together since their Super Bowl performance in 2020.
