At 53, Shannen Doherty left behind instructions before her tragic death – and they’re heartbreaking

After she passed away, Hollywood actress Shannen Doherty left behind extremely specific instructions about what she wanted done with her remains.

The actress from 90210 valiantly fought cancer during the final few years of her life after receiving a diagnosis in 2015. After going into remission in 2017, Doherty later disclosed in 2020 that her cancer had come back.

The 53-year-old tragically passed away on Saturday, causing a wave of mourning. The actress’s departure has shocked people despite the fact that she had been open about her journey, disclosing that the cancer had progressed from her breasts to her brain and finally her bones.

Leslie Sloane, Doherty’s publicist, confirmed the actress’s passing on Sunday.

“Actress Shannen Doherty passed away, and I confirm this with heavy heart. After battling the illness for many years, she lost her fight with cancer on Saturday, July 13, Sloane told People.

“Her dog, Bowie, and her loved ones surrounding the dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. In order for the family to grieve in peace, they kindly request privacy at this time.

Doherty gave detailed instructions for her loved ones to follow in the case of her death, including funeral and burial plans, according to the Daily Mail.

The Charmed actress revealed on her Let’s Be Clear podcast back in January:

“I desire that my dad and my dog will both come into contact with my remains.” She declared, “I don’t want to be cremated or buried.

Furthermore, Doherty proposed that the blended ashes be dispersed at Malibu, California, the location of many “precious times” spent with her father. Adding the remnants to fertilizer in an attempt to “grow them into a tree” was another option that she was amenable to.

She also mentioned wanting to “grow them into a tree” by giving her loved ones her mingled remains as fertilizer.

Doherty expressed her wish for a more private funeral in a set of instructions she shared during the same podcast session.

They don’t truly like me, even though they have valid reasons for doing so. In fact, they don’t like me enough to attend my funeral.
