Inside Mom-of-2 Sandra Bullocks Isolated Hilltop Farm with Chicken Coop She Owned for 15 Years

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock possesses a vast array of real estate holdings. Throughout her career, she has bought and sold numerous properties, even renting one at a staggering $30,000 monthly.

In September 2022, Bullock placed her West Coast property on the market. Alan Long, a friend, was one of the realtors handling the listing of the home, which was referred to as a "sanctuary." The mansion was priced at $6 million and consisted of three distinct lots, including a single-story adobe-style ranch that spans 6,000 square feet.

The ranch features four ensuite bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen equipped with wide-plank wood floors and a La Cornue oven range, and a dining space with a cushioned window seat and a beamed ceiling.

Additional amenities include a Creston Smart Home system, six fireplaces indoors, three outdoors, a gated courtyard adorned with flowering vines and a fountain, as well as a saltwater pool and spa.

The estate boasts numerous walking trails amidst approximately 1,200 organic avocado and citrus trees, which were already thriving when Bullock purchased the property, as noted by Long. Additionally, there is a walk-in chicken coop and an electric charging station.

Long mentioned that Bullock enhanced the property by creating walking paths, adding the pool, and importing ancient olive trees. He described the views as reminiscent of Tuscany.

At the time of listing, the second lot was designated as a potential home-building site and included a barn with a horse corral. The third lot, covering 30 acres, contained three bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with several outbuildings.

The listing provided the option to buy the property without the third lot. Long disclosed that Bullock was seeking a farm closer to her sister on the East Coast.

Sandra Bullock’s California Farm Home Is Sold

In December 2022, Bullock sold her expansive 91-acre avocado farm located outside San Diego for approximately $5.6 million, which was lower than the original asking price of $6 million.

The sale was finalized on November 9, 2022, with the property being acquired by a Newport Beach-based firm known as IAAA LLC.

Bullock had purchased her Valley Center home in 2007 for $2.7 million. This Mediterranean-style residence stood out among similar properties in the region, many of which serve agricultural purposes.

The area provides a secluded environment, ideal for those seeking privacy, and offers nearby nature adventures at Palomar Mountain and the expansive Cleveland National Forest.

Surprisingly, many locals were unaware that Bullock owned a property on Couser Canyon Road for 15 years. She had previously mentioned in an August 2013 interview that she owned an avocado and citrus ranch, which she said provided her with "calmness and serenity."

Sandra Bullock’s Break from Acting for Family Time

A year after selling her San Diego estate, Bullock was spotted on social media with her younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, who works as a pastry chef and television personality.

In March 2023, Bullock-Prado shared exciting news on Instagram about her cookbook, "My Vermont Table," making it to the New York Times bestseller list.

In a celebratory video, she proudly held her book while sharing the great news from her kitchen, with her sister seen joyously moving behind her.

In March 2022, Bullock announced her intention to take a break from acting for an unspecified duration, emphasizing her need for a joyful environment.

That joyful environment includes her two children, son Louis, now 16, and daughter Laila, who is 12. The devoted mother expressed that while she takes her acting career "very seriously," she prioritizes being present for her family. She stated, "And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and with my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while."

About a year after her hiatus from acting and selling her farm to be closer to her sister, it was revealed that she had been caring for her longtime partner, Bryan Randall.

Randall battled ALS for three years before sadly passing away at the age of 57 in August 2023. His family shared a statement following his death, disclosing that he had chosen to manage his condition privately and that those caring for him respected his desire to keep it low-key.

Bullock was among those who provided care for the photographer. Her sister, Bullock-Prado, acknowledged this publicly on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt tribute to Randall alongside a photo capturing his radiant smile.

Bullock-Prado expressed confidence that he had "found the best fishing spot in heaven," and remarked on the harsh reality of ALS, noting the comfort in knowing he had devoted caretakers, including her sister and a dedicated nursing team helping at home. "Rest in peace, Bryan."

In her post, Bullock-Prado encouraged people to forgo flowers and instead donate to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital, providing a link in her bio.

Almost three years following Randall’s passing, Bullock publicly addressed the grief she had experienced privately. During an August 2026 appearance on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, she opened up about Randall’s "traumatic diagnosis."

Bullock revealed that Randall had requested her to keep his illness confidential: "I wasn’t allowed to speak about it. That was the request and I tried — I honored it." The secrecy, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, led to a profound sense of isolation for her.

Her sister Gesine was among the few who initially knew about his condition until Bullock confided in close friends, including Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Anka.

As revealed in a new report, Bullock shared that she began grieving Randall long before his death, stating, "I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed." She described the challenge of balancing his illness and raising two young kids during the pandemic as "a trifecta that was pretty dark." Despite the difficulties, she reflected, "My person left a lot earlier than the body left."

On August 18, 2026, just days after the podcast episode aired, Bullock offered a rare glimpse into her personal life on Instagram, sharing a photo carousel captioned "Friends, family, fun, fishies, furries, aaaand work." This post provided followers a view of her summer, featuring rare images of Louis and Laila, along with a behind-the-scenes look at her podcast recording setup, marking a moment as she gradually returns to the public eye.
