Love in the Air: ‘Good Morning America’ Host Robin Roberts Marries Amber Laign in a Beautiful Backyard Affair

Robin Roberts and her longtime partner Amber Laign have tied the knot!

On September 8th, the couple exchanged vows in a “magical” garden ceremony, surrounded by family and friends.

The co-anchor of Good Morning America first met Laign back in 2005 through a blind date arranged by mutual acquaintances.

“An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception… ohhhh the dancing!!” Roberts shared on Instagram on Sunday. “We are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember. Honeymoon here we come!”

“Our two friends, my friend Alex and her friend Bert, finally said, ‘Enough, you two are going to meet,'” Laign previously shared with GMA. “I remember just walking up, and she’s just beautiful, and she took my breath away, and she still does.”

Over the course of the next 18 years, the women consistently showed that they would always be there for each other.

Whether it was providing support to their partners during the loss of a parent or celebrating triumphs over breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome.

During the pandemic, the couple began considering the possibility of turning their marriage aspirations into a reality after more than two decades together.

Both partners proposed to each other while sharing a platter of calamari at their favorite restaurant in Connecticut.

“We took the calamari rings and we placed them on each other’s fingers and we just proposed to one another,” Roberts explained.

“Looking back now, it was quite fitting for us not to have the traditional down-on-one-knee proposal with one person doing it. It was just us, hanging out in our cozy little Mexican restaurant, exchanging calamari rings and saying, ‘Let’s do it.'”

Although the official proposal occurred at the end of 2022, Roberts didn’t publicly reveal it until January 2023 when she was asked by Gabby Bernstein, a motivational speaker and author, about what she was saying “yes” to.

“I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet,” the co-anchor admitted. “We’re getting married this year. It’s something we have talked about, but we had put it off. She became ill, and it is saying yes to that and that next chapter.”

“We’ve really, early on, learned how to become a partnership and work together and truly, truly trust one another,” Laign told GMA in the days leading up to their big day. “And to have someone by your side like that is a gift.”
