He revealed that he learned to play guitar specifically for the iconic scene where Marty McFly shreds on stage. He told director Rob Zemeckis, “When I do this scene, I play guitar, so you can finger sync me. Feel free to cut to my hands any time you want.” However, the pressure was on to get it right. Michael added, “Having said that, it put pressure on me to get it f–king right,” and mentioned that he had a guitar teacher, Paul Hanson, to help him nail the performance.
