The couple, who wed in a romantic ceremony in the North Carolina mountains on June 16, 2018, are already parents to a 2½-year-old son, Merrick Avery. The toddler—named after Gabi’s father but affectionately called by his middle name—is about to become a big brother.

A Love Story Written in Song

Scotty and Gabi’s relationship, which began nearly a decade ago, has always been deeply rooted in love and music. The couple dated for six years before marrying, and McCreery even captured their journey in his heartfelt proposal anthem, “This Is It.”

Their shared values and love for family have resonated with fans since the beginning. Now, with another baby on the way, McCreery’s fans are celebrating alongside the couple.

This exciting family news arrives just weeks after McCreery made headlines for another reason: his unexpected collaboration with legendary ‘90s band Hootie & the Blowfish. Together, they released “Bottle Rockets,” a dynamic track that nods to Hootie’s classic hit “Hold My Hand.”

Rather than using a sample, McCreery invited the band—including lead singer Darius Rucker, a longtime friend—back into the studio to re-record elements of the iconic song.

“It’s not a sample of ‘Hold My Hand,’” McCreery explained. “All the guys went back into the studio and re-recorded their parts. It really brought the song to life.”

What’s Next for Scotty McCreery?

As McCreery gears up for baby No. 2 and enjoys the momentum from his latest music release, fans can expect more heartfelt performances and perhaps even a few lullabies inspired by fatherhood.
