Taylor Swift reacts to Katy Perry kissing female artist on stage at VMAs – and everyone’s saying the same thing

At the VMAs last night, Katy Perry made quite the commotion by accepting the lifetime achievement award and performing a few of her greatest hits.

Orlando Bloom, the TGIF sensation’s fiancé, presented the award to her after a heartfelt speech in which he referred to Perry as a “global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes.”

Teenage Dream, I Kissed a Girl, and E.T. were among the hits Perry played in a medley before winning the VMA Video Vanguard award. During her performance, the 39-year-old teased the crowd with a song from her most recent album, I’m His, He’s Mine, which features rapper Doechii.

And when they got really close during the song’s choreography—even sharing a kiss on stage—the pair caused a stir on the internet.

Undoubtedly, the kiss became viral on the internet, but not just users of the platform reacted quickly. No, pop music phenomenon Taylor Swift was in fact present at the VMAs, which were hosted in New York, and her response was captured on video.

Swift can be seen dancing to the hit song in video shot from an audience member’s point of view before she suddenly stops to witness Perry and Doechii kiss.

Then Swift is seen spinning around, giggling, and opening her mouth, joining the rest of the audience in applauding the couple performing.

Considering that Swift is currently perhaps the most well-known person on the planet, it should come as no surprise that her response to Perry’s kiss was discussed on social media nearly as much as the kiss itself.

Someone on Twitter said, “Even she was GAGGED.”

She’s really genuine for this, someone other said.

“She exhibited our response,” added a third.

“It’s amazing how she responded,” commented fourth.

A fifth person said, “Taylor’s response was so priceless! Seeing sincere expressions of surprise and excitement is always entertaining.

Upon accepting her award, Perry gave a moving speech in which she discussed the skills and advice that have helped her hold a position at the top of the music industry for such a long time.

“I’m incredibly grateful to MTV for supporting artists in creating universes that go beyond songs and for believing in my oddities right from the start. To be a successful artist and have a long career, a lot of conditions must be met. The 39-year-old stated, “There aren’t any accidents that last ten years.

“I’m thrilled to see so many wonderful young musicians working with vulnerability, confidence, agency, and authenticity in today’s music landscape.

“Do this, don’t do that, wear less, wear more now, don’t cut your hair,” are some of the advices I’ve heard. The main reason I’m standing here today is that I’ve figured out how to shut off the noise, which is something that many artists in this field—especially women—have to battle all the time.

“With all of my heart, I just want to say, do whatever it takes to stay true to who you are and what you’ve created; switch off social media, take care of your mental health, take a moment, touch some grass, and do what you were meant to do, just as I was meant to do this.”
