Tracy Reiner Breaks Her Silence After Parents’ Tragic Deaths: “I’m Still in Shock”
Tracy Reiner, 61, has spoken publicly for the first time following the devastating deaths of her father, legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. In an emotional statement, she shared that she is still unable to process the magnitude of the tragedy, describing her family as “the greatest family ever.” Her comments reflect the profound grief that has surrounded the Reiner family since the double homicide.
Tracy, who was adopted by Rob during his marriage to Penny Marshall, said the experience has left her speechless and heartbroken.
“I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock,” she told reporters.
Making the loss even more painful, Tracy revealed that she saw her father just one day before the deadly attack inside his Brentwood home.

What Investigators Have Revealed So Far
According to authorities, Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, were found dead in their Los Angeles residence on Sunday afternoon. Their daughter Romy, 28, discovered the bodies. Both victims suffered multiple sharp-force injuries, and police confirmed that their throats had been slit — details that point to a violent and targeted attack.
Detectives have charged the couple’s youngest son, Nick Reiner, 32, in connection with the murders.
Law enforcement sources reported that Rob and Michele argued with Nick during a Hanukkah celebration the night before the murders. The party, reportedly held at Conan O’Brien’s home, became tense when Nick’s behavior escalated. Authorities believe the conflict continued after the family returned home and ultimately led to the fatal assault.
Nick was arrested the next morning and is currently being held on $4 million bail after being charged with two counts of murder.
Nick Reiner’s Troubled Past
Nick Reiner has battled addiction and mental health issues for many years. In 2016, he spoke openly about entering rehab over twenty times and experiencing periods of homelessness.
“When I was out there, I could’ve died. It’s all luck. You roll the dice and you hope you make it,” he said at the time.
His struggles were later dramatized in the 2015 semi-autobiographical film Hey Charlie, which he cowrote with his father. Rob said the project forced him to revisit painful family memories, describing the experience as extremely difficult.
Nick has rarely been seen in public in recent years, and sources say tensions within the family had been growing.
