ERNEST Performs Emotional First Dance at Jamey Johnson and Brittney Eakins’ Wedding Ceremony in Tennessee

Country music fans were treated to a heartwarming surprise on May 20, 2025, when Jamey Johnson married longtime partner Brittney Eakins in an elegant, intimate wedding held at Graystone Quarry in Franklin, Tennessee. The event was filled with country music royalty, but it was the first dance performance by ERNEST that stole the spotlight.

A Country Music Wedding for the Ages

Johnson and Eakins’ wedding was a star-studded affair, attended by country icons such as Randy Travis, Oliver Anthony, Zac Brown, Kid Rock, Ella Langley, Randy Houser, and Lukas Nelson. Fellow artists Jerrod Niemann and Lee Brice served as groomsmen, and the larger ceremony for 350 guests was officiated by Randy Houser himself.

The couple exchanged vows twice—once in a private family-only setting and again during the main ceremony with their extended guests. Photos from the celebration, including those shared by actor and musician John Schneider, showcased the beautiful Southern charm of the day.

How Jamey and Brittney’s Love Story Began

The love story began in January 2019 at Governor Tate Reeves’ inauguration in Mississippi, where Brittney, then working as a law clerk, met Johnson. The very next day, Jamey proposed outside Walker’s Restaurant.

Though Brittney initially declined—asking for a date first—the connection was instant. As she recalled, “He looked at me and said, ‘You have no idea how long I have been looking for you.’” After a long-distance relationship, Brittney moved to Johnson’s city in late 2023, and by March 1, 2023, they were officially engaged with a custom-designed diamond ring.

ERNEST Sings Chris LeDoux Classic “Look At You Girl” for First Dance

For their first dance, Jamey Johnson chose Chris LeDoux’s “Look At You Girl,” a deeply personal favorite. But instead of playing a recording, he turned to fellow artist ERNEST, who he recently performed with at a pop-up show in Nashville.

In a touching Instagram post, ERNEST shared a screenshot of Jamey’s text request, where Johnson told him:
“You’re the only one I know that would appreciate the tradition and do it the justice it deserves.”

Though nervous at first, ERNEST accepted and delivered a flawless acoustic performance of the beloved track. His emotional delivery set the perfect tone as Jamey and Brittney danced under a spotlight on a glowing white dance floor.

A Moment to Remember

As ERNEST sang the lyrics—
“Just look at you, girl / Standin’ here beside me / Starlight on your hair / Lookin’ like a dream…”
—the couple swayed back and forth, eyes locked, sharing a moment that moved many in attendance to tears.

ERNEST described the experience as one of the most nerve-racking but special performances of his life:
“I’ve played some nerve-racking moments, but singing the first dance song for @jameyjohnsonofficial takes the (wedding) cake.”

A New Chapter for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson

From a chance meeting at a political event to a diamond proposal and a star-studded ceremony, Jamey Johnson and Brittney Eakins’ wedding was a heartfelt celebration of love, tradition, and country music. With a memorable performance by ERNEST, this wedding solidified its place as one of the most touching moments in recent country music history.
