Jennifer Lawrence’s “Naked Dress” Turns Heads at the 2026 Golden Globes
When Jennifer Lawrence stepped onto the red carpet at the 2026 Golden Globes, she didn’t just arrive — she ignited a cultural moment.
The Oscar winner became the center of conversation after appearing in a sheer, floral-embroidered gown that many quickly labeled a modern “naked dress.” Within minutes, the look divided social media, sparking both criticism and passionate defense from fans.
Lawrence attended the ceremony as a nominee for Best Performance by a Female Actor for her raw portrayal of Grace in Die My Love, a film centered on postpartum depression and psychosis. Yet, as often happens on awards night, it was her fashion choice that stole the spotlight.

Designed by Givenchy creative director Sarah Burton, the gown featured delicate pink, ivory, and green floral embroidery layered over translucent fabric. The romantic detailing softened the sheer effect, giving the dress an elegant, almost vintage feel — reminiscent of iconic “naked dresses” worn by stars like Beyoncé and Halle Berry.
Not everyone approved.
“Maybe they should have a dress code or put the award shows on after the kids are in bed,” one viewer wrote online.
But the backlash was quickly met with overwhelming support.
“The only acceptable return of the naked dress. Classy and elegant,” one fan posted on X.
“It is a naked dress, but it’s the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen,” another wrote.
A third added, “She looks tastefully sexy yet romantic at the same time. This is how it’s done.”

Many praised not just the design, but Lawrence’s confidence — noting that the gown was far more artistic than provocative.
Lawrence herself seemed unfazed by the controversy. Speaking on the red carpet, she joked about her look while discussing after-parties.
“I’m going to hang. I’m naked, I might as well,” she laughed, adding that her children would “prefer I not be here.”
The actress has long been known for her candor, extending even to conversations about filming intimate scenes. Ahead of the Globes, she spoke openly about working on Die My Love alongside Robert Pattinson.
“It was actually easier because Rob and I didn’t know each other,” she told People. “Doing it with a stranger is preferable.”
Her role in Die My Love resonated deeply, as Lawrence has publicly discussed her own experience with postpartum depression after the birth of her second child.
“It’s part hormonal imbalance, but it’s also an identity crisis,” she told Vogue. “Who am I as a mother, as a wife, as a sexual person?”
With one red-carpet appearance, Jennifer Lawrence reminded Hollywood why she remains one of its most compelling figures.
At 35, she is entering a powerful new chapter — with upcoming projects including The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (2026), where she returns as Katniss Everdeen, and Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
