Liam Payne’s sister, Ruth, shares an emotional tribute as she breaks down in tears: “My heart is still aching for you.”
|Six months after the tragic death of One Direction star Liam Payne, his sister Ruth Gibbins has shared an emotional tribute that has moved fans worldwide to tears.
In a deeply personal Instagram post on April 16, Ruth, 34, opened up about the overwhelming grief she’s been carrying since Liam’s passing at the age of 31, following a fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“My head is still screaming for you,” Ruth wrote. “Every morning, when I wake up, it feels like I’m submerged underwater, desperately gasping for air that never comes. Living without you seems impossible, so for now, I’m just existing.”

🌧️ “I Miss You In Every Moment” In her heartfelt message, Ruth revealed the struggle she faces trying to find normalcy while quietly grieving every single day.
“I’m learning to laugh and smile in the right moments, but it’s exhausting when all I really want is to talk to you,” she shared. “In the rare moments I allow myself to feel love, not just loss, I can smile at the memories of us… but those memories always carry sadness because it’s unfair that we can’t make new ones.”
👻 “I Can Hear Your Laugh Sometimes” In a moment of raw honesty, Ruth admitted that she still feels Liam’s presence around her, even in the quiet moments.
“I sometimes hear you laughing at me, like I’m walking around like Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost, searching for you everywhere I go. But I see you—you’re always showing up in little ways to guide me back to the right path.”
“I can’t process what has happened and the finality of it. You know I will never stop doing everything I can for you. I miss you loudly, quietly, and in every moment in between.”
Ruth concluded her post with a poignant message that captured the hearts of her followers:
“Love you more than these words or my tears can ever say, but I know you know this. For now, I’ll meet you in my dreams.”
