Luke Combs Performs Emotional Cover of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control”
|Luke Combs brings raw emotion to Teddy Swims’ breakout hit in surprise Instagram performance
After the massive success of his Fast Car cover in 2023, Luke Combs is once again capturing hearts—this time with a powerful acoustic rendition of Teddy Swims’ hit single “Lose Control.”
On the evening of June 3, Combs took to Instagram to share an impromptu video of himself performing the viral 2023 song. Armed with only his acoustic guitar and his unmistakable vocals, Combs tackled the soulful track with intensity and sincerity, singing:
“Something’s got a hold of me lately. No, I don’t know myself anymore. Feels like the walls are all closin’ in, and the devil’s knockin’ at my door.”
The video was captioned simply: “A little Lose Control by the man @teddyswims.”

Although the clip ends shortly after the first chorus—leaving fans begging for more—the impact was instant. Teddy Swims himself responded with excitement, commenting “Go !!!” and “Ayyyyyy,” while resharing the clip to his Instagram story.
The Grand Ole Opry, Kane Brown, Tucker Wetmore, and even rock band Shinedown chimed in with praise, urging Combs to release a full version.
“Let ’em know, bro,” wrote Kane Brown.
“Killed that,” added Tucker Wetmore.
“MORE!!!!!!!!!” demanded Shinedown.
“Lose Control” is one of the standout tracks from Teddy Swims’ debut album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), which earned major acclaim and took home Top Hot 100 Song and Top Radio Song at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
The song’s soaring vocals and emotional vulnerability have made it a go-to cover choice for rising stars, including Isaiah Misailegalu during American Idol Season 23’s Hollywood Week in 2025.
With this cover, Luke Combs continues to blur genre lines and connect with fans through storytelling and soul. And judging by the response, a duet with Teddy Swims may not be out of the question.
