Robin Williams’ Daughter Tells Fans: “Please, Just Stop Sending Me AI Videos of Dad.”
|Zelda Williams is speaking out against the use of artificial intelligence to recreate her late father, legendary comedian and actor Robin Williams. In a series of emotional Instagram Stories shared this week, Zelda pleaded with fans to stop sending her AI-generated videos and clips of her father, calling the practice “gross” and disrespectful to his legacy.
“Please, Just Stop” — Zelda’s Heartfelt Message
“Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand — I don’t and I won’t,” Zelda wrote.
She added that while she’s dealt with internet trolls before, this issue goes beyond trolling. “If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse. I’ll restrict and move on. But please, if you’ve got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me. It’s dumb, it’s a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it’s NOT what he’d want.”
Zelda Criticizes AI’s Exploitation of Real People
Zelda went on to explain why the trend of using AI to mimic deceased celebrities is so harmful:
“To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to ‘this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that’s enough,’ just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You’re not making art, you’re making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else’s throat hoping they’ll give you a little thumbs up and like it. Gross.”
“Stop Calling It the Future”
In another story, Zelda addressed the larger cultural obsession with AI content.
“And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it ‘the future’. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed,” she wrote. “You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.”
A Legacy Worth Protecting
Robin Williams, who passed away in 2014, remains one of the most beloved figures in entertainment history. His daughter’s message serves as a reminder that behind every famous face is a real family, and using AI to imitate someone who has passed can be painful for those who loved them most.
