American Idol Top 10 Rankings: Top 3 Fan Favorites Shine as New Rule Could Shake Things Up

American Idol 2025 is continuing to broadcast LIVE Coast to Coast. On Sunday (May 4), the Top 10 will perform songs celebrating the iconic women of music, with Miranda Lambert serving as mentor. By the end of the night, the Top 8 will be revealed. Then, on Monday, the Top 8 will perform songs “secretly” chosen by the judges. Each contestant will pick one from three options, and the judge whose song gets the most picks will “win.” America will then vote for a Top 6, and the judges will select one more contestant to complete a Top 7.

In the meantime, why not take a moment to rank the Top 10? It’s a nice, neat number! The ranking below reflects the “power” each contestant brings to the upcoming shows based on past performances and results. How would you rank the Top 10?

American Idol Top 12 Performances Facebook Rankings

The list below shows the Facebook views of the Top 10 performance videos from last week’s Top 12 episode:

  • John Foster – “I Told You So” – 7.1M Views, 116K Likes
  • Gabby Samone – “A Song for You” – 2.5M Views, 33K Likes
  • Jamal Roberts – “Heal” – 1.9M Views, 34K Likes
  • Breanna Nix – “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” – 504.4K Views, 11K Likes
  • Canaan James Hill – “Goodness of God” – 358.8K Views, 7.7K Likes
  • Josh King – “All by Myself” – 339.4K Views, 4.1K Likes
  • Mattie Pruitt – “Because of You” – 253.5K Views, 3.1K Likes
  • Thunderstorm Artis – “House of the Rising Sun” – 200.9K Views, 3.9K Likes
  • Kolbi Jordan – “Over the Rainbow” – 195.4K Views, 4.1K Likes
  • Slater Nalley – “Angel from Montgomery” – 190.7K Views, 4.2K Likes

Based on Facebook views, Jamal Roberts, John Foster, and Gabby Samone are the frontrunners, with each earning over 1 million views on their most recent performance videos. John leads with over 7 million views, Gabby has 2.5 million, and Jamal is just shy of 2 million. The remaining Top 10 contestants received fewer than 500K views each.

It’s also notable that CHÉ and Filo had the lowest Facebook views of all Top 14 performances the week prior—and both were eliminated the following week.

American Idol 2025 Top 10 Rankings

The rankings have shifted slightly, with former frontrunners now in danger of elimination. Thunderstorm Artis has posted low Facebook views for two consecutive weeks, and Slater Nalley has been consistently in the middle of the pack. His views during Top 12 week were surprisingly low, despite performing first, which can be a disadvantage even for popular contestants.

10. Kolbi Jordan

Kolbi, despite holding a Platinum Ticket, has struggled to keep up with fellow R&B singers like Gabby Samone and Jamal Roberts. While she delivered a strong performance of “Amazing Grace” during the Top 20 Songs of Faith night, it’s hard to see her making it past this week. If she does make it to Monday’s Judges Song Contest, the judges might use their save on her.

9. Mattie Pruitt

Mattie started strong but has faced inconsistency in her performances. While she has a mature tone, her inexperience became evident on Top 12 night, especially with her lackluster rendition of “Because of You.” Her early promise is fading, and it seems unlikely she’ll make it to the Top 5.

8. Thunderstorm Artis

Once a favorite, Thunderstorm’s recent performances have failed to gain traction. His rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” garnered only 200K views, far behind the current frontrunners. Though he’s talented, his performances haven’t resonated as strongly with audiences in recent weeks.

7. Slater Nalley

While Slater was once seen as a potential winner, his star has dimmed in comparison to John Foster, who has become the new country favorite. Slater’s Americana style, while unique, hasn’t connected with voters as deeply as John’s mainstream country covers.

6. Josh King

Josh, the only wildcard pick to remain in the competition, has stayed strong with his engaging performances. His ability to deliver both upbeat songs and heartfelt ballads has kept him in the game, and he remains one of the most musically talented contestants left.

5. Canaan James Hill

Canaan’s voice is stunning, and he’s truly dedicated to his mission of spreading faith through music. However, he still lacks confidence in connecting with the crowd, which may hinder his progression to the Top 5. His sincere performances, though, make him a strong contender.

4. Breanna Nix

Breanna has had her struggles with confidence, but when she takes the stage, she’s able to push past her self-doubt. Her vocals are powerful, especially when performing Christian music, and she made a big impact with her rendition of “Open Arms” on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame night.

3. Gabby Samone

Gabby rose to prominence after being chosen to skip the Head-to-Head round during Hollywood Week, and since then, her performances have been flawless. From “Four Women” to “I Am Changing” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” she consistently delivers fresh interpretations of familiar songs. Along with Jamal and John, she looks like a solid contender for the Top 3.

2. Jamal Roberts

Jamal is perhaps the most well-rounded entertainer of the season. His vocals are energetic, emotional, and dynamic. He can command the stage with his vibrant performances or deliver a quiet, emotional rendition as he did with “Heal.” His versatility sets him apart from other contestants.

1. John Foster

John has quickly emerged as a frontrunner, possibly poised to win the entire competition. At just 18, his vocal tone is perfect for country music, and his performances resonate with fans. His rendition of “I Told You So” garnered over 7 million views on Facebook and earned significant praise, making him the contestant to beat.

American Idol airs Sunday and Monday on ABC at 8 pm, with episodes streaming the next day on HULU.
