Justin Moore Fights Back Tears While Dedicating “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” To Charlie Kirk’s Family

Charlie Kirk’s Legacy and Tragic Death

Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, the CEO of Turning Point Action, and the host of a popular daily radio show. At just 31 years old, he was traveling the country on his American Comeback Tour.

On September 10th, during a stop at Utah Valley University, tragedy struck. Charlie was shot while speaking to the crowd. Despite immediate efforts to save him, President Trump confirmed his death later that afternoon.

A nationwide manhunt was launched, and on September 12th, authorities announced the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was charged in connection with the crime.

Charlie’s wife, Erika Frantzve Kirk — a former Miss Arizona USA — and their two young children were left devastated. The couple married on May 8, 2021, and shared a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

“In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, my husband’s voice will remain.”

She added passionately:

“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry. If you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before — you have no idea what you have unleashed across this entire country and this world.”

Justin Moore’s Emotional Dedication

A few days later, at the Hop Country Music Fest in Yakima, Washington, country star Justin Moore took the stage and delivered one of the most emotional moments of his career.

Before performing his #1 hit “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” Moore paused to dedicate the song to Erika Kirk and her children. With tears in his eyes, he shared heartfelt words:

“I regret that I never had the opportunity to meet Charlie or his family. But I don’t care which side of the aisle you’re on. It’s just a tragic, tragic deal. It just shouldn’t happen… And as my wife and I just celebrated twenty-three years together and we have four kids, I cannot imagine the questions that [Erika’s] having to answer to a three and a one-year-old. It just breaks my heart.”

A Song Filled With Comfort

Justin then fought back tears as he began to sing “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away.” The lyrics carried extra weight in that moment, as he reminded the audience that faith brings hope even in the darkest times:

“I promise you though, he is at the right hand of Jesus right now. And we ain’t, so he’s got it better than all of us do, I promise you. Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done… God bless him and the life he led. And I’m sure his legacy will live on, and on, and on. I sure hope so.”

Justin ended his message by sending love to the Kirk family:

“We’ll send this out to his family tonight. I’m sure they’ll never see this, but if they happen to run across it on YouTube or something, I hope they know that their husband, and their dad, and all his friends and family, they had a hell of a fan in me, I promise you.”

Honoring Charlie Kirk’s Memory

The moment was one of unity and compassion, as thousands in the audience joined Moore in honoring a man whose life was cut tragically short. Charlie’s mission, as his wife Erika vowed, will continue to inspire millions.
