Reba, Miranda & Lainey Unite for “Trailblazer” — A Powerful Anthem of Strength and Freedom

Country music royalty is making history tonight. On Thursday, May 8 at 8:00 PM EST, the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM Awards) will spotlight more than just country music’s biggest honors—it will also mark the debut of a powerful new single from three of the genre’s most celebrated women: Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson.

Their brand-new song, “Trailblazer,” premieres live during the 2024 ACM Awards and delivers a deeply emotional tribute—not only to the legends who came before but to the rising women carving out country music’s future.

“Trailblazer”: More Than a Song—A Statement of Legacy and Empowerment

This heartfelt collaboration was co-written by Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, and Brandy Clark on Lambert’s back porch in Texas. The creative energy was electric as the artists shared stories, inspirations, and a shared goal: to honor the past, present, and future of women in country music.

“We were trying to figure out, ‘What’s the right message for this trio?’” Lambert told Billboard, reflecting on the song’s emotional development.

Wilson added that it stemmed from an honest conversation about musical mentorship and shared history. “We were just talking about how both Miranda and Reba have influenced me, and about passing the torch and blazing trails for each other.”

A Generational Tribute: Past, Present & Future of Women in Country

“Trailblazer” references iconic elements from each artist’s journey. Lyrics subtly nod to Lambert’s smash hit “Kerosene,” while also incorporating Wilson and McEntire’s Southern roots—Louisiana and Oklahoma, respectively.

“We leaned in hard to pay tribute to each other,” Lambert explained, “but we wanted it to be thoughtful, not obvious.”

For these three powerhouse women, the message is clear: it’s never been a better time to be a woman in country music. Wilson shared her hope that the song will resonate across generations—“a grandmother, a daughter, and a granddaughter can all listen and feel seen.”
