Ryan O’Neal Kept Farrah Fawcett’s Portrait Above His Bed — Photos Inside the Home He Shared with His 2 Dogs
|Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett were once the golden couple of Hollywood — dazzling, dramatic, and unforgettable. Their love story stretched across three decades, beginning in 1979 and continuing until their emotional final reunion before Fawcett’s passing in 2009.

In his later years, the Los Angeles-born actor resided in his La Costa Beach home in Malibu. From there, he could enjoy sweeping views of the shoreline, where he was often seen taking peaceful walks with his beloved dogs.
Throughout his life, O’Neal was married twice, both unions ending in divorce. His first marriage, to actress Joanna Moore, lasted four years and brought him two children: his daughter Tatum and his son Griffin.

His second marriage, to actress Leigh Taylor-Young, resulted in the birth of their son, Patrick. They divorced in 1974, and O’Neal remained single from then on.
Everything changed in 1979 when O’Neal met Farrah Fawcett. Though she was still married to Lee Majors at the time, a powerful bond formed between her and O’Neal. Once Fawcett divorced, the two began a romance that would become one of Hollywood’s most iconic.

In 1985, they welcomed their son, Redmond. Though they never married, their on-again, off-again relationship endured until Fawcett’s death, marked by deep love and undeniable challenges.
O’Neal was fiercely protective of Fawcett. During their early days, he encouraged her to embrace her natural beauty and skip the makeup — a move that emphasized authenticity, even as it invited public criticism.

Fawcett once shared a story that reflected O’Neal’s fiery loyalty. After a run-in with her former manager Jay Bernstein, O’Neal became enraged when Bernstein remarked that she looked “a little tired.” O’Neal nearly lashed out in defense of her honor.
Their relationship was as complicated as it was passionate. Fawcett openly acknowledged their ups and downs, once saying, “We fight, but my opinion is valid, and I stand behind it now.”

Their love defied convention. They never married, choosing instead to stand side by side through everything — heartbreak, success, illness, and joy.
In 2001, O’Neal was diagnosed with leukemia, and Fawcett became his devoted caregiver. Just a few years later, in 2006, she faced her own battle with cancer. He stood by her with unwavering support until she passed away in 2009.

In a cruel twist, O’Neal was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2012, a challenge he met with strength and determination.
On December 8, 2023, a little over a decade after losing Farrah, Ryan O’Neal passed away at the age of 82. The cause of death was not disclosed, but his son Patrick shared the news with a heartfelt Instagram post, saying, “My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us.”

In 2021, LUX&Ent magazine had the rare opportunity to visit O’Neal’s coastal home at 21368 Pacific Coast Highway. The space was serene and elegant, featuring an open layout that let the ocean’s beauty shine through. Above his bed hung a large portrait of Fawcett — a quiet tribute to the woman who had been his great love.
The magazine’s team was welcomed by O’Neal himself, along with his two loyal dogs, Mozart and Raven. The home was warm and inviting, with personal touches that gave a glimpse into the actor’s private world — from cheese and wine offered on arrival to candid moments with his dogs, often shared on Instagram.

In the living room hung a striking painting of Fawcett — a centerpiece that spoke volumes about their enduring connection. O’Neal, ever the gracious host, greeted guests with warmth, hospitality, and a calm joy that came from being close to nature and his loved ones.
In September 2020, the entire O’Neal family came together to celebrate his 82nd birthday — a deeply meaningful moment that would turn out to be his last. Patrick and Tatum joined their father in Malibu for the occasion.

A photo shared by Tatum in April 2023 showed one final, touching detail: above O’Neal’s bed still hung that same portrait of Farrah.
His Malibu home was more than a luxurious beachfront residence. It was a sanctuary filled with memories, laughter, love, and the legacy of a man who lived with passion and never stopped loving.
